Tough to play classes?

I've played a lot of classes in Mid and Albion over the years. To be honest there were no hard classes at all in Midgard when I discovered the minstrel in Albion :worthy: Very demanding to play one right, but the reward is as multiple as the number of bars you need to master.

Healer classes (cleric) are also hard to play right. It has been said before but a good healer will keep on growing in his abilities - just spamming spreadheals is a very narrow and bound to loose concept of the clerics potential. Not talking about zomBBies ofcourse as they are a nitwits recepy to glory.

Easy classes: chanters, shroomists, bonedancers, theurgists.

hmm I dis-agree, bard has songs which are pretty passive (speed when moving, end in combat), the insta shout dd (very easy to use), insta lull (also easy) and finally mezz (and some cure mezz). As far as I can tell the hardest part of a bard is deciding whether to use insta mezz or just castable mezz at the very start of a fight and getting end song going as early as possible.

Sorc is tricky, two types of cc (+ demezz), lots of debuffs (ae str/con and dex/qui and single target), castable amnesia, lifetap, pet control, quickcast (and in fact using quickcast correctly is probably the most skilled part of playing a sorc).

Minstrel is also tricky, overpowered in the stealth war maybe but not in group rvr, the hard thing with a mins is using their ability to interupt 2 or even 3 people at once and trying to keep your group demezzed at the same time. Minstrel with a red con charmed pet (like a mindworm), now thats a different story! :)

I agree a solo guarder pre TOA looked quite hard to play but its made a lot easier by being almost cc immune (det 5) and not having to worry too much about staying alive, all you really gotta do is make sure your guarding the right person, make sure you are near that person and slam any enemies also near that person! :) I have to admit Tusk does make it look easier than it really is but im sure 6 sec pbt is a big help as well though, which brings us to the warden which is prolly one of the easiest classes to play yet also one of the most useful to have in a group (pbt on chain armor, good idea! and now grapple as well :( )

Healing classes also look quite tough, skill there seems to be all about position and predicting when and where damage will occur.

interruptible songs on pulse timer, means if you are interrupted you have to wait for entire pulse cycle to start again.
initial CC
dd, lull(break mezz with aoe?) use to interrupt
curing mezz
curing disease/poison
minor healing

Just number one makes playing bard almost impossible, if you playing against a decent group getting end going is a massive task.

I have played bard, sorc and mincer classes to 50, when I played a 50 sorc they were a shocking class to play, they have received much loving since then.

A bard without Phoebus Harp or MOC is hardest class to play imo, with those 2 items it gets much, much easier.

easy: necro, animist.. got both.. xp is a breeze..

hardest: well i dont play mid so.. champ, menty, bard, cleric, wizzy..

yeah wizzy.. you heard me right.. coz of so many bloody bad clerics :(

massive imbalance in alb, i have seen it now.. 2 classes to buff (cleric and friar) and way too much importance placed upon the clerics.. never again will i complain about bb's at apk after seeing it first hand.

find theurg and reaver fun tbh.. not hard at all..

Tbh i think hardest classes is different from person to person, cause it really depends on what type of player you are, and what type of groups u run in.

Hardest imo have to be: Healing classes, Bard, Sorc and Mincer

all depends on how you define hard :p

all comes down to how you are willing to play the class
fe. ppl say savages are the easiest to play
but if you want to tweak the max out if it, it will be the hardest-to-play offensive tank in the game

but imho sorc still remains tuffest class to play:
-a good alb grp stands or falls with the sorc
-3+QBs with xxamount of usefull spells
-1500hps in cloth
-212things to do and pay attention for
etc

I would say:

Sorc - Hi! I am the mezzer kill me first!

Guarder - If you are the only one in a Group (And they usually are) and you have to protect 2-3 mages, Whining Druids with Pets on their Arses, Whining Bards with assist Train behind them. Slam this, Help here, go there, do this, why dont you guard me!!!!111 etc

Bodyguard and Grapple made it alot easier now but before ToA it was teh Pain since Guard doesn't work 360° arround the one you guard. you have to face the enemies and with up to 3 Tanks on them you had to do/watch alot things to protect good.

Warden is hard with 49 nurt 42 reg rest parry and blunt/blades

often you dont have to heal so much and they'll want you to interrupt their mezzers, healers. some ppl just dont get it ;) :D

well when it come to healing classes...

Druid = easy mode with 20% healing + pet
Healer = semi easy mode because there are always a lot of them
Cleach = hard mode, no pet, no real CC, no healing bonus, not 3 clerics in each grp...

Well everything is relative... Of course once you have mastered it you don't think it's hard. Do you think Tiger Woods goes: "Oh sh*t golf is SO damn hard I think I'm going to crap myself!" when he goes out on the golf course? I beleive he finds golf rather easy to play tbh, but that doesn't mean that it's easy for everyone else. So that statement you just made is actually referring to how hard it is to play a class once mastered. The path to mastering can in many cases differ in "hardness" I guess, and that's what (of course) I'm trying to find out peoples opinions about.

Serious answer to a stupid/arrogant statement :p

I know the stealth muppets are going to flame me for this, but mincers are hard to play *well*. You have a wide variety of tools to use and have to decide very quickly in a fight how you're going to use them - and any class with a lot of options will be harder to play than one with few.

Ministrel must be one of the hardest.
Cleric, Druid, Bard come short after.
Theurg, Healer, Animist (in a roaming grp)

Hardest one to stay alive are probably ice wizzards.

Soooo used to seeing the cleric in the group get more rp for rezzing me than i get for killing stuf.

Once in a while you get to kill 4+ peeps in two secs... most of the time i am just dead 2 secs after fight starts, and then i am lucky if i get rezzed before fight is over... that means, if my entire party isn`t dead within 4 secs of the fight starting...

All casters face that problem if they meet good enemies

sorry, but saying druid is easy because of pet is like saying cleric is easy 'cos of smite and instamezz. A decent regrow druid has a lvl 7 pet, that is hardly annoying, you kill it with one stick shot.

It all depends on what you mean by "tough to play classes". Do you mean which classes have a worse chance of winning fights than others, and hence need to play better - OR do you mean classes that is hardest to play up to 100% of their potential?

Example: Suppression Bonedancer
Skill needed to play to perfection: High
Level of perfection needed to perform good: Low

Example: Ice Wizard
Skill needed to play to perfection: Low
Level of perfection needed to perform good: High

Why is this the case? Well, the Bonedancer has an insta lifetap on a 4 second timer that will interrupt any caster pretty much 100%. He also have healing pets. Pressing the insta lifetap and relying on automated pets will probably win bonedancers a lot of fights. This is only a fraction of a Bonedancers performance potential tho - a Bonedancer have root, nuke, can use pet to interrupt smart, can use staffing+lifetap+pet to interrupt 3 people at once and has stat debuffs. Can use lifetap+nuke to deliver good damage, even if he dont spec high in his nuke spec.

The Wizaard (in this case Ice) on the other hand does not have a pet, nor any insta interrupt (except Volcanic pillar). It relies on DD/DD+Snare/Root/PBAE and has a low DD+resist debuff Ice DD. This is not a lot of utility to play with, and it's not a lot to master. Yet, the Wizard is a much weaker class than Bonedancer which less tools at is disposal.

Who's tough to play?
Bonedancer

Who's tough to perform with?
Wizard

I would say any class with a high number of options in combat. The more tools U have the more difficult it is to pick the right 1 depending on the situation (group setup - enemy - RA's up - etc.)

Based on that classes like sorc, minstrel and bards come out on top then. As mincer its not unusual I perform 12-15 different tasks in a combat spread over 3 QB. Just count the often used options:

DDx2
stun
single mezz
AOE mezz
demezz
hit
ablative
confuse
switch instrument

+ less often used during combat as
PWS
speed
various pet commands

+ a couple of RA's like
purge
SOS
IP
AP

+ML abilities
/set ground target
zephyr
phase shift
elemental resist

+items that can be used

Im sure other classes like sorc and bard have the same lenghty list of abilities - any1 from mid who has a similar number of options?

The above is not the only answer ofc, but making the right decision in combat between more options has to increase the difficulty level.

(Pheobus harp and keybinding are the best part of TOA btw)

Im sure there is classes that is harder to play then others, but come on, after a few weeks active playing they are all the same, you know what buttons to press and when unless you are a retard or a kid

lol @ BD kiddie

Bards may have lots of "abilities" but when they fall into the category of "which song do I want to be playing at the moment" and "which spell can I cast that will make little difference because we have two primary healers and a warden who can do it just as well if not better" ...it's not quite so impressive. At the heart of it all, playing a bard comes down to hitting the insta lull, casting the mezz, then getting end song running and interrupting as much as possible with DDs/lull/whatever isnt greyed out. Endurance isn't even considered essential these days- do you see NO using a pally?

Sorcs on the other hand have a huge range of abilities, all of which NEED to be used to the full to win each fight.

you call it hard to interupt with 4 seconds instant dd, staff and pet at same time? :D
try to same as mincer, when grappled ;)

You sure it dies with 1 shot? I think you forgot the problem with pbt and speed sticking to pets even when miles away. So, with pbt you need at least 2 shots (maybe more) for a crappy grey pet....
