Actually, I didn't mean *give* her my Lenovo.. I'm selling it to her for 200. She was in the market for a laptop for 350 anyway so everyone's a winner :D.

What was the price originally? I only ever saw it at £389.99.

359.99, only 30 quid and it still appears to be a fair price :)

Nice, Fast - not going to be top end but without doubt better than most the crap provided by ISPs these days ;) /shakes fist at his speedtouch from O2/Be

Anyway, I may have been wrong about the memory prices - or at least suppliers are being a bit defiant:

Christ that's a cracking price. Iiyama aren't quite as good with their TFT's as they were with CRT screens but that's besides the point - 24" with all those inputs for a shade over £170 - bloody bargain imo.

Seemed like a steal, hopefully the website is legit. ;)

I also got:
wii vga cable
xbox 360 vga cable
2x RCA female to 3.5mm
3.5mm female to female stereo socket

Hopefully this will allow me to use this monitor and still take advantage of my 2.1 (but pretty good) speakers. I'm not a cable geek, quite the opposite, so hopefully I've not got this all wrong. :D

You really can't go wrong with a spinpoint, bought one a couple of months ago to serve as a media drive.

For those of you unfortunate enough to have bought a Seagate hard drive (and not wanting to keep running it, as per the thread I'm about to create) or just about to look for a 1tb unit:

1TB Samsung HD103UJ Spinpoint F1, SATA 300, 7200 rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ - Scan.co.uk

Funnily enough I ordered one of these today as I finally got around to sorting out my computer... was very surprised to see the cost of them with a 32mb cache as well. £75 on ebuyer too... don't see how other harddrive manufacturers are going to compete against that unless they drop their prices too which is good news for all us consumers :)

I was looking at the Acer 5920g (without the blu-ray player) for about £450 at laptopsdirect.com, unfortunately i can't find it any more. Anyone know where I can get it or a decent alternative (4gb ram, 256mb dedicated graphics etc.) for around the same price?

Nearest I can find is 600 quid from Play.com but thats with Bluray. Laptopdirect's price seems far too low tbh, looking at an expired link the only one near that I could see was a refurb.

This is a pretty good card, here. I have one myself. There is a HD version, but it's pretty much double the price.

I'd say the xonar too, but better off with the shielded model. You'd be surprised just how much difference EMI shielding makes - it's noticeable on a plain x-fi and one with aftermarket shielding fitted!

Ok that makes sense, I'll have a look around :)
