Absolutely. If you cook in bulk and freeze then you're faster-than-ordering-a-takeaway times for a lot of stuff. If you need to do fresh veg then it takes, say, two minutes to cut stuff up whilst the kettle boils and then you throw it in a steamer - it's not like you have to stand and watch whilst things spin in a microwave or steam. You can do other stuff.Cooking balanced healthy meals doesn't take much effort or time. It is a myth created by pushers of junk food that it does.

If you're cooking casseroles, or chillis, or bolognaise or anything like that then you've about fifteen minutes of prep, then things go in an oven or on the hob or in the slow cooker. I do chilli in bulk - probably about fifteen good sized portions - so seven+ meals for two people. Takes me half an hour.
Lets see - if I spend spend a ridiculously expensive £30 on onions, meat, kidney beans, tomatoes, fresh chillis, red wine, pepper, chilli powder, stock cubes, olive oil, garlic, mushrooms and maybe an avocado or two to make home made guacamole (if I can be arsed) - I make 15 meals out of that so that's 50p/meal. Plenty of good nutritious calories - and half an hour of prep. Lets call it two minutes to dish up (that includes putting frozen stuff in the microwave, setting a timer, pulling a couple of bowls out), plus lets say 7 times 3 minutes to wash up (no dishwasher) - so an hour and five minutes of my life all told. For 7 meals. That's 9.28 minutes per couple per meal.
That, of course, is if the other half doesn't help.
So, half the price of a single McD's cheeseburger per portion. More calories. Better nutrition. Less time than it takes to get to McD's unless you live next door (and I bet getting your shoes on, leaving the house for next door, ordering, waiting and then coming back home would take 9.28 minutes). It takes me £30 and 35 minutes to go to the nearest town to buy a takeaway curry (not including petrol or the time to decide what we want from the menu (argue about it) and then phone them).
Cooking fresh food is almost effortless, very cheap and very very easy![]()
Lol. Was on a call and making shit up on the fly. Including hugely inflating the price of ingredients. Point still stands.Think your maths is a bit shonky there chap. £30 in ingredients for 15 meals means £2 per meal.
Or twice the price of a Cheeseburger from Maccies. You could get a small fries as well and still be quids in.
Also the thing I like about Maccies compared to the suggestions above, they don't use kidney beans, avacados or any of the other rank shit you've just cooked up.

Don't see that. It's just the rich mental folk that are fucking the planet and entrenching inequality are tory voters - but just as bad.Yeah, on the flip side, the mental folk are part of Labour's problem.
Antidemocratic Starmer!

Starmer warned Labour leadership rule changes risk 'civil war'
New leader of the Unite union Sharon Graham criticises proposals to change the rules to elect future a Labour leader.www.bbc.co.uk
labour really do seem to want to fuck themselves rather than concentrate on the important business of opposition/getting elected.
Nice to see confirmatiom that Starmer's really a tory.
Just totted up the ingredients on sainsbugs. - including a two kilos each of mushers, onions, and beefs, came to £22.36.Doing a quick scan on tesco online i overran the 30 quid budget at the wine...
So meat onions beans and tomatoes only for you scouse
Classic Labour, have a proper internal fight rather than fight the Tories. I get the feeling the only way Labour survives is if they split.
Also someone on Politics Live made a reference that even the Tories don't do what Keir is trying to do.
Yes, but the likes of momentum couldn't give a toss about the environment, they just want to shut down all discussion about anything, and they certainly won't attract voters, all they do is create Tory landslides.
Also @Gwadien, you can facepalm all you like. It has been proven that the Momentum mob are completely unelectable, even with peak Tory, they got their leader, who was simply incompetent, who surrounded himself by equally useless people and Labour stacked it. No ifs no buts. People would rather not bother voting than vote for those gibbering fuckwits. If they went there again, they would be finished as a political party.
Unless they ditch their cancel culture ethics they'll remain loony unelectables - and the rest of the other stuff - important stuff - is going to continue fall by the wayside. It's the way you're dismissing all their views as just being about 'cancel culture' and ignoring the other stuff that's very important to them
Jesus.
I guess I'm cool to call all Brexiteers racists.
Unless they ditch their cancel culture ethics they'll remain loony unelectables - and the rest of the other stuff - important stuff - is going to continue fall by the wayside.
But they won't ditch their cancel culture shit. So there you go.
Well, that's what you have been doing so...
I think there's evidence to show you're wrong. The policies themselves are popular. Very popular - polling shows that.Yeah, nah, I disagree.
I think the hate is there for the Labour party (or any version of *slightly* left wing politics) as a whole and it'll last much longer than cancel culture, because there will be the next excuse for everybody to be forced to vote for the Tories![]()
Yet to meet them.but there's a whole lot more left wing people that don't support it
I think there's evidence to show you're wrong. The policies themselves are popular. Very popular - polling shows that.
Its the people who want to enact those policies that are the problem. The cancel-culture rabid arseholes that they are.
Good ideas - but desparately need to believe in more individual freedom, rather than marxist-style cultural hegemony. The tories have a bit more of a whif (rightly or wrongly) of personal freedom about them and despite all their shit they get elected - so that shows where the electorate falls.
You're conflating two completely different issues. But you literally just criticised Starmer for going the other way, so which is it? Are they Tory lite or hard left wing cancel culture extremist fascists?
I don't get why certain elements of the left simply cannot take any criticism of movements within the left and get all agro about it. It's just weird. I blame social media for much of it. They are just as bad as the far right.
Labour don't have to be Tory-lite, they don't have to be momentum. There is more to leftism than screaming your opinion at people and refusing to engage. It's time people grew the fuck up.
