Fortunately here in Europe we have GDPR to ban that kind of thing
Yay brexit yay!

In @Job's world the UK is going to strengthen our protections because the EU's were weak and corrupt. We can be more like the mighty and free United States.

Sweden is being very reserved compared with news i am reading from other countries. There are a few closed schools close to my home but not a lot nationally as yet

There isn't a great deal of closures in the UK either tbh.

The current prediction is that schools will shut 2 weeks before easter and have a month off.

I expect it to diverge from GDPR quite quickly, and the first stress test will be the American trade deal. Initially it will be Safe Harbor that gets binned, then opt outs instead of opt-ins then data sales. It's an asset the UK has that US techs will want to exploit. No-brainer tbh.

Only schools in the UK tend to be ones linked to cases afaik.

I'm not convinced that GDPR will change much in the UK.

I just saw a rumour about my school having a kid with a sibling who's been to northern Italy recently.

My wife's God daughter was skiing in northern Italy three weeks ago; by the time the school got around to telling them to self-isolate they were ten days through the 14 day incubation period. She's absolutely fine

I was making the point that GDPR - a European law - was good.

But you raise an interesting point - along with animal welfare standards, food standards, job security and human rights, GDPR is indeed weakend by brexit. You'll no longer be able to appeal to the European Court of Justice - you'll get to appeal the the incredibly well funded and powerful Information Comissioner's Office. If we leave without a deal it technically will not apply at all.

And we've such good form for not being a bunch of pirate cunts in the UK haven't we. (FYI: Farage and Nuttall both voted against GDPR).

N Italy is a Sweden half term week holiday location (even though there are plenty of mountains in N Sweden to go skiing down). The jumps in cases seen in Sweden last week have mostly been down to individuals returning from N Italy (at work we had one who had to go in to self isolation and she has proven to be ok). The jumps in cases this week is due to those returning from holiday who have had contact with family members and there are now reported c. 10 cases of community spread.

Its interesting. You seem to imply that the uk hasnt implemented and good laws without the europeans.

i tend to think gdpr is too restrictive. The amount of time it takes small organisations without big resources to administer and make sure they stay correct on it is huge.

there has to be a better way to trade without all the restrictions and monitoring required while still being able to maintain a members data base for instance.

if everyone at birth was assigned a email identity that was known by all and could be used to sign up for things and such. So it wasnt private and didnt have to be protected maybe.

A friend's sister did the same thing at the same time with a couple of friends. They came back, the 2 friends (2 married GPs) thought they were showing symptoms so wisely decided to self-isolate. The sister was due to come down to Toulouse to do a half-marathon and, while she was down, she was going to come and stay with my friend (who has just got over some pretty horrific cancer and whose immune system is pretty fucking fragile right now).

The sister was roundly told to fuck off, there was no way she was being allowed to see her sister (ok it was put more diplomatically than that but she was very flippant about the whole thing, despite knowing full well what her sister has been through) but she still flew down, stayed in Toulouse, and took part in this marathon. Unbelievable lack of awareness of the situation, I couldn't believe after being in direct contact with people who thought they might have it, she still went gallavanting around potentially spreading it further.

Reading about the virus, its perfectly mild if it stays in your throat, about 10% of people wnd up with it in their lungs and 10% of them go on to develop severe problems like immune over reaction, bleeding into the lungs, if it gets into your blood it can cause havoc with the liver/kidneys/bowel.

Thats what kills people, the doctor who died was pumped full of antibiotics and anti virals, had his blood going through an artificial lung plus dialysis and still died.
They dont understand why he reacted so badly.

I find it interesting seeing how different countries choose different ways to deal with the same thing. Seeing how culture dictates government response based on perceived tolerance of diktat.

I have no fear of dying and find the current situation interesting. Comparing to the spanish flu and the slowing of pandemic :)

I suspect they're taking the scientific advice, they're at different stages of the disease. Italy's been worst hit in the west so their response seems reasonable. We're not there yet. I suspect when we get to the same stage we'll all do the same things.

China, well, that's China for ya.

Do you Know the Corona virus is not a fuckin virus it’s 5G that’s actually killing people and not a “virus”... they are trying to get u scared of a fake ass virus when it the 5G towers being built around the world. China was the first to have over 100,000 5G towers, and people in Wuhan were the first to get affected by it. This 5G shit was planned years ago to depopulate us and keep as at a low vibrational state. Bill gates is the one who created this along with the weird entities who control this world. He also is creating a vaccine for this so called corona virus that they are going to try to enforce on everyone. These Vaccines are actually chips that they are trying to implant in billions of people across the world. They can literally monitor all ya actions, movements, whereabouts, and thoughts through these lil micro chips. Not only that they can end ya life through them micro chips with the push of a button. They know in order to have millions of people take these vaccines they first need to create a fake virus. Smh it grinds my fuckin gears that you humans are brainwashed enough to believe wtf the news and media puts out there. WAKE TF UP and start researching the truths behind these weird agendas they keep creating. Y’all really out there with masks and shit on WHEN IT AINT NO DAMN VIRUSSSSSS. These Chinese doctors and people you see on TV that’s so called affected by the virus ARE ALL ACTORS, this shit is scripted out LITERALLY. It’s 5G towers that’s killing people and no mask in the world can prevent them levels of radiation from frying your brain. If we don’t wake tf up NOW this shit really kill us smh but of course y’all gonna think I’m crazy for saying this too right ??? Smh Fuckin Robots is what y’all are, legit programmed robots ‼️

I KNEW IT!!!!!!

Actually 5G radiation fears are very widespread in people I would consider better educated.

The biggest issue with 5G is its monumental ability to spy on the population and it will spark off a tidal wave of tiny , handy sensors and monitoring devices that will be welcomed until they are compulsory.

Would you consider yourself to be better educated?
