Dont think it will take away jobs, will mean we gave to spend less time doing manual tasks that humans are bad at

The world didnt become unemployed during industrial revolution they just found other things to do

Agreed, but we still need to learn things, we still need to explore.

I don't think you understand what AI does but then it's more a marketing label for the public - it's really Machine Learning. ML is good at data analysis and pattern recognition. So it'll be great for detecting cancer in images, giving the odds someone will have a heart attack based upon their medical charts but it will NOT create new procedures.
Of course it will, this is way beyond machine learning, this is an artificial intelligence..it will take in millions of inputs and cross reference them a billion times faster than a human, processes that take decades can be done in minutes.
It will devour knowledge, our job will be to feed it results from experiments till it learns how to simply calculate the results from pure physics...
The article I posted from
https://waitbutwhy.com/2015/01/artificial-intelligence-revolution-1.html

Nails the process to immense power.

I do understand what it means, and the stages we are currently going through. I'm not talking about now for replacing doctors but this is developing fast. We're currently developing intelligence that's limited to a very narrow, specific task, these are going to get a lot better. We're already seeing people like Google taking steps into the second stage, general intelligence. there's an exponential growth curve that we're currently sitting right down near the beginning of, but this is going to develop fast and (we're not sure exactly when, going from aggressive estimates of about 20-30 years, to more conservative 60-70 years) someones going to develop a stage 2 device capable of improving itself and then the cats out of the bag completely.

Very interested in that chess AI story from the perspective of getting a computer to work on (inter alia) Alzheimers proteins research and cancers.

What about getting it to work on quantum gravity?

Driverless cars INC.

Ah, the robots might be taking over, our jobs redundant but what about the arts? Could an algorithm write a beautiful original novel? Compose a piano Concerto in the style of Tchaikovsky? Sing an opera with human expression and sensitivity ? Go synchronized swimming? Do gymnastics? Taste food? Dream? Invent a device to supersede itself? Hold cogent arguments in philosophy?

We will get rid of money since there is no more need for it and everyone will have everything they ever needed, also the world would unify because there isn't much to fight over, and it's probably best to invest into space so that we can get more resources.

Or not.

I took a chance on a date tonight, she was very, very pretty in her photos but they were headshots. I had a feeling she might be fat, or at least curvy, but I went through with it and we met up because I like to say Yes to things in life.

She was like a hot water tank on legs. Two diet cokes and then I was fucking Swayze.

I was with you up until the diet cokes. Did she look like Patrick Swayze?

Is there any point to this anymore, you can buy 400hp cars for a couple of grand, the roads are gridlocked and theres frickin speed cameras everywhere.
Thats why I'll never buy a superbike again, you just end up a 100th throttle, looking over your shoulder the entire ride.

Ok, take 2, putting my cash down on a 2K one of these.

Scouse hates these I know, but evryones gonna have one.
It's not the bikes - it's the people who ride them I have a problem with. They plough through people without a care in the world, tear up trails etc.

Riding a mountain bike in more remote places means you've probably spent quite a long time getting fit, learning trail ettiquette, where and when (and when not) to ride etc.etc. Now total n00bs are coming on their e-bikes and ruining trails, pissing off walkers (who are a problem at the best of times, but now the yobs are about it's doubly worse) and acting in a dangerous manner.

I'm sure it's not *all* of them. But I've never met one who wasn't a cunt. Watched one knock a kid off his bike on a fire trail (not even single track) going uphill at Llandegla the other week. He couldn't be arsed slowing down so twatted the kid off his bike. Didn't even stop.

Light motorbikes where you're supposed to ride cycles are a shit idea. A shit idea for fatties.

Anyone riding an electric bike for fun, who isn't disabled, is a lazy twat.
