Seasonal minimum wage work for a few weeks away from home? Joy. That'll solve their long-term job problems (and stop em job hunting for something decent). Great work for an 18 year old who wants a bit of spare cash when off travelling maybe. Here is an idea

Why not tell the people that are "job seeking" to work on them instead of playing xbox all day? Minimum wage but work is work. Get out in the fresh air, meet new people, often accommodation taken care of.
I really wish I had done something like that for a season or two in my youth.
Agree with Scouse..though Im having a little bit of converted preaching afterwhiff here.
The strawberries are cheap bacause we pay migrants fuk all to pick them...I think the exact same arguments were made against ending the slave trade.
Fucking lol. They are paid exactly minimum wage, according to the law. If someone isn't then it is up to the law to make sure they do.

And if you are in a situation where benefits in the uk pays more than working then the job has shit pay
Yep. Our benefits aren't the best but our minimum wage is basically slave labour (if they actually pay it).
You sat on refresh again? Anyway - edited my post (heavily) as I always doYou're talking out of your arse, again. If someone pays less than minimum wage then people need to report them to the relevant authorities, confidentially if needed, if they are then found to pay less then they get (publicly) reamed - and fined.
ofc the job has shit pay, its putting things into cardboard boxes and sending them out, we ain't going to give him 40k and a company car (That he seems to want)
Automation and robotics ftw.
I'd pressed "reply" and saw your answer. Don't get all butthurt.Says the guy replying within 3 minutes.
Simply not true.Yup. Lazy fuckers the lot of them. No excuse
Raven i understand the problem perfectly well, i was in that situation about a decade ago now im on the other side of the table hiring people
Lazy fucks is just a convenient throw away comment that abdicates any responsibility for the issue (which as a voter in a democracy these issues are everyones responsibility)
Minimum wage isnt slave labour but it is demeaning...it takes 10 hours to earn 75 quid.
I mean..wtf.
Not true. Less inequality. Geddit? The world is full of shit, bad paying jobs, if you start paying the bottom rung massively inflated wages then you have to start paying those further up the tree better wages
No. It might be a shock for someone who didn't study hard - but the only shock upon starting work for a lot of people is A) how easy it is and B) how intellectually demeaning it generally is.Gain experience of working, which is a shock for anyone leaving full time education
who is going to give a natural idiot responsibility and the salary that it attracts?
True. But dignity, right? I mean - in this economy you should not only never be "grateful" to have a job (because if the economy can't provide you with one then the economy is a joke) - but you should also have a job that allows you dignity and not a permanent level of being on the edge of starvation or homelessness.Which isn't great, sure, but that's more than enough to eat, pay the bills and pay to live under a roof which is kind of the point of well ... working.
I know you did poorly at school so maybe thats why you leap to idiotic conclusions and throw around ridiculous assertions so rapidly.Again, bullshit. You pay people what they are worth to the company. Your just aren't going to pay someone that opens the post the same as someone who's decisions might affect the business. "you love free stuff for all" yadda yadda yadda, tired old shit
