Is it actually paid holiday in UK? Here the deal is often that at beginning teachers are on fixed term contracts starting august (when term starts) and ending in june so no pay during summer

Later in careers they get 30 days paid vacation (like everyone else) because theres a lot of shit to do when kids aren there (ive even heard stories of teachers being dragged in to paint classrooms and install new pcs)

They get 6 weeks in the summer, 2 weeks at Xmas, 2 weeks at Easter. Then 3x half term weeks. Then bank holidays that don't fall into the holiday weeks, another 5 days.

They can't pick and choose when to be off (which is a pain)

Obviously they have to put planning and reading up on the syllabus and so on into their "spare time" but still...its a lot of holiday.

And yeah, they are salaried so whatever they get a year split into 12 equal payments.

Dont really have a problem with that, most teachers arent paid that well and as they pretty much have to work 10+ hours a day (compared to my cushy 7.5hrs) all the extra "holiday" would, in a flex time system be for burning off the extra hours
