Bullying could negatively influence someone in later life I think. Maybe you've turned out ok, but not everyone does. Some kids end up killing themselves due to bullying.

Having said that: the correct response to children being bullied for having gay parents isn't to prevent gay people from adopting children, since they will often make perfectly good parents. Instead you should educate children about gay people and adoption so that they are less likely to be cruel and to continue to punish bullies so that they hopefully learn their lesson. Not all of them will, and there will always be bullying, but ignorant children being mean isn't reason enough to prevent gay people from having equal rights or to prevent a child from having parents.

As with all things in life, let The Simpsons (up to season 10) be your guide. Bart The General describes the perfect solution to bullying, and it absolutely worked for me (10 little 'uns can beat the living shit out of one big 'un if you stick together. Plus, don't be afraid to fight dirty).

This will be my last post on the subject because its boring now..but I did some research and the opinions range from religious bigots saying the bible says no and ill informed types who say its agsinst natures laws.
The most interesting group is gay people themselves who are 50/50 split on adoption...most disagree based on my opinions and the rest tend to be people who are in stable relationships..but they all agree gays are even worse than hetrosexuals in relationship stability.
Thats all whatever...I just dont believe its fair to the children.

I don't disagree that young gay people are particularly choppy changy (though that's just personal opinion - not got any evidence for it), but I know offhand about four gay couples (3 male and a female) that have been together 15+ years - plenty of time to bring up a kid in a stable environment.

I actually wouldn't disagree that gay men generally have less stable relationships* than hetero couples, but you don't prohibit straight couples from having kids because there's a 50% divorce rate. Its a pretty specious argument.

(*Of course there's the counter-argument that such relationships are less stable, at least in part, because society didn't recognise such relationships as valid until quite recently; time will tell).

Actually I'd say that gay couples generally have less stable relationships because they're all fucking drama queens. Seriously. Every time I go and see my best friend, who's a lesbian, I see more drama in a weekend from her group of friends than all the soaps combined.
