When I run the "sfc /scannow" command, do you think it will accept a Windows XP disc rather than the Windows XP Professional disc which I don't have? The core file system is the same, right? XP Professional just has additional stuff most ppl don't need, right?

I dont think so it looks for the main file on the disk a .cab I think. If that is named differently between the version it will cause it to fail.

Just checked ucas site for Uni applications for the first time after work to make sure I had the right password etc, turns out one of my five choices has given me a conditional acceptance only 5 working days after I applied thats got to be a good sign right !? or their desperate for cash

Connected my monitor up to the laptop

For some reason videos only play on the laptop's screen, not the large monitor. All I see on the large monitor is a completely black screen inside the media window. Everything else normal (sound, pictures). Just video. Doesn't matter which media player I use. I can only watch videos on the laptop screen
