Does anyone play games in a window on their PC? Or am I old fashioned?

Since I've started running a 27" monitor with a 2440 resolution, I don't feel the need to use it maximised (not to mention, i'm not sure my PC is quite up to that res) so I've been playing CS:S at 1920*1080 in a window like I used to do way back in the day with lower resolutions.

It just makes alt-tabbing and going back into the desktop so much easier.

Played DAoC in windowed mode, but haven't since, no, I think my game fucked up once whilst doing it so I have not since.

I'd say you're old fashioned :)

Le Gavroche is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having served the most expensive meal per head when three diners spent $20,945 on one meal (including cigars, spirits, and six bottles of wine costing $19,248) in September 1997.

That must have been beaten since then, surely.

How 'bonded' do you ned it? silicone will stick them together, or if not, use a 2 part epoxy resin (hoping it doesnt melt the plastic first that is!!)

Just found stuff on the interweb called Gorilla Glue but it requires a clamp time of 30-60 minutes. This isn't going to be possible. Or put it this way: I am not standing out in the freezing cold for an hour with my finger on it. Its a vertical plastic to glass bond. Needs to be 100% waterproof, but can be re-bonded if necessary. Will try superglue first. Then search harder.

I play WoW in windowed mode because often I will watch a movie or TV show while playing. All other games I play in fullscreen though.

That's actually a bit stupid. The Sikh religious requirement is not to cut your hair, you're not forced to wear a turban. Why couldn't he put his hair under a bearskin?

In Sikhism, Kesh (sometimes Kes) is the practice of allowing one's hair to grow naturally as a symbol of respect for the perfection of God's creation. The practice is one of the Five Ks, the outward symbols ordered by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699 as a means to profess the Sikh faith. The hair is combed twice daily with a Kanga, another of the Five Ks, and tied into a simple knot known as a Jooraor Rishi knot. This knot of hair is usually held in place with the Kanga and covered by a turban.

Practicality? Donno then. I always thought it was a part of the religion for the turban to be worn covering the uncut hair. I sit corrected.

I always thought they wrapped the hair within the turban? Or traditionally at least...maybe not.

I've always liked the Sikh community. Nice people. I must say, the turban looked a wee bit out of place next to the bearskins, but times are changing, and he looked as proud as punch standing at post. They never would have put him there if they didn't feel he wasn't up to scratch, so he gets my vote.

The British Army has always been rather fond of Sikhs (they were always among the best Indian Army troops along with the Gurkhas and the Rajputs), and personally I've always thought Sikhism was an OK religion as religions go (especially as it dumps a lot of the more repulsive aspects of Hinduism), but I also think British traditions have to be accounted for as well; The Guards wear bearskins and I don't think being a Sikh means you should throw that tradition out when its perfectly possible to accommodate it.

Wasnt there a sikh regiment in world war two? All wore turbans, were pretty feared and renown because of it, id rather they tuck to their traditions rather than having the indian regiment, the black regiment etc, Sikhs are fighters, if you go to a Sikh wedding there is always a fight between the two fathers usually, then two hours laters its hugs, between the same people, with the help of whiskey. :p

There were thousands of Sikh troops in WWII, but they were Indian Army troops in Sikh regiments. The Scots Guards are a British regiment so the British tradition should come first. And its not as if the turban is an essential religious requirement; Sikh warriors back in the day wore helmets and the Indian Army even has a specially designed armoured "Patka" for Sikh troops; there's some good examples here. There are actually really good reasons why regiments have strict dress codes and other traditions; and you fuck around with those things at your peril.

Yeah the everyman in the same uniform is designed to bring everyone together so special treatment could be bad. Also we have no national service so he has volunteered. Meaning he should of been well aware of the uniforms so if he did not agree he should not have joined?
