Finally got round to watching Tarkovsky's Solaris.

It's pretty good. A lot to like about it - fantastic cinematography and really clever use of sound. I probably preferred the more ambiguous first half when you're still guessing and have no clue as to what is going on. That

bit where he's talking to Sartorius and the midget comes bursting out of his room is hilarious and a very odd surprise.

One of those films with loads and loads of little details that really make the whole.

I can see why some people might think it's boring pretentious silliness, but I enjoyed it a lot.
