The first *awesome* technic set I had was a big red supercar with 4 wheel suspension. I'm looking on bricksets.com but it must not be a complete archive, there are loads of sets I remember that aren't there. And lego.com doesn't seem to have a bit for discontinued sets. :(

Right, thats it. I'm now officially on the market for some Lego. Technical, difficult to build, robotics, motors, electrics, lights, wireless connectivity, the works. The more complex the better. Any ideas?

I also had the JCB, which I modified to have pneumatics on the front loader and also I put the backhoe on a sliding rail so it could slide to either side. AWESOME.

I also had a pneumatic digger, but it wasn't a JCB. Are there others? Iirc it ran on track, not wheels.

I dont know, I know they had tracked vehicles because I nicked the tracks from something to make a nifty little skid steer thing (with independent drive for left and right tracks). Couldn't tell you what I took the tracks from though.

I always really admire people making awesome original stuff from technics. When I tried that shit, I always failed or made the spacecraft from Space:1999. I really loved the Space:1999 spacecraft. Woo. :)

I got my lad that for christmas its totally mint.

you get touch sensors, light sensors, sound sensors and some groovy ones that can see colour, its programmable through usb/bluetooth straight from your laptop and its great fun to piss about with.

We're trying to build a robot that can detect that sound of his sister so we can program it to hunt her round the house and shoot her with its ball cannon thingy.

10/10 from the haynes household :)

Yeah sounds great. I'm one more Jack Daniels away from ordering it. £50 cheaper on Amazon then the official Lego store.

Alcohol + Internet + credit card = ???

Haha there really is something about Lego. I went round my Uncles house for Boxing Day last year and whilst all the women stood and gossiped in the kitchen there was about 7 blokes, all 20+ sat around with a beer playing with a lego truck that my uncle had bought his step son for christmas.
