Nah but it's ride in the Army, loads get kicked out for the exact reason - teaching kids to kill fucks with their mental health.
My brother has served in Kosovo and had three trips to Afghanistan as well. He hasn't touched hard drugs once in his life. So please stop your prejudice and condescending remarks.

Huh?

I don't see how what I said was prejudice and condescending - drugs are a problem in the army, purely due to the nature of their job.

In actual fact, I'm defending the soldiers; it's showing the short comings when it comes to mental health.

Google the obvious yourself?

First link has this related info:

The army is massively overrepresented there...

Honestly, the arguing over what's obvious nowadays is getting silly.
Not arguing. Just using your own self stated needs. If you make a statement. Back it up with proof.

Otherwise you are just a hypocrite demanding from pthers what you dont do your self.

Come on mori. It's common knowledge that army and mental health issues go hand in hand.

I'd be asking for evidence if someone said it was the other way around :)

Watching your mates getting shot/blown up is going to fuck with your head.

America is a leading example of how I am not making 'generalisations over an occupation you dont have first hand exerience in' because every single presidential campaigns it's vital that they say that they're going to help the Veterans. Especially with the amount of issues coming back from the War on Terror.

I just find it bizarre that the entire medical world is saying we should treat drug addiction as a mental health issue rather than a criminal issue yet the Army, who has an issue with mental health just respond by kicking everyone out.

Soyou want coked up dudes running around with guns? Lol.

Armed Forces relax policy on drug abuse

Apparently in 2006 they relaxed their rules. I guess they have to draw a line somewhere ?

Calling someone who has served three times in Afghanistan a kid; a person who has helped projects such as wells and a school for boys and girls emerge in areas which were heavily controlled by the Taliban previously, is beyond condescending.

It is outright disrespectful and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Again, you're missing the point.

I said 'a kid' because in the UK you can join the army at 16, and therefore be stabbing mannequins screaming kill at it (which is a part of training) for a 16 year old that's fucked up, let alone killing people by the time you're 18. (or can you deploy at 17?)

As the original subject was about a young lad who joined up when he was a kid, it was fitting.

Context is key.

WTF?

How old is he? That's the definition of a kid. A kid that's done shit, yes. But a kid.

Get the stick out of your ass...

Your "context" (which Scouse seems to have lost track of) is mental health issues = cocaine use. Which is bollocks.

Well, for whatever reason soldiers appear to be more likely to take cocaine than your average person.

Again, I wasn't criticising turning to drugs, I was criticising the draconian approach that they take to dealing with the mental health issues, especially when they're the ones that are probably most likely responsible.

Wheres the stats to show that?

Found this for the usa

According to the 2008 Department of Defense (DoD) Survey of Health Related Behaviors among Active Duty Military Personnel, just 2.3 percent of military personnel were past-month users of an illicit drug, compared with 12 percent of civilians. Among those age 18–25 (who are most likely to use drugs), the rate among military personnel was 3.9 percent, compared with 17.2 percent among civilians

Not found for uk yet tho

Stats everything but the truth.

I know many servicemen who are active and take drugs all the time, the system is abusable so that they look clean - and I'd imagine that's where they get their data for this shit - how many people are caught.

You know a small group of service men compared to the number in service. Unless you prostitute yourself outside the barracks every weekend.

Don't know if I've ever written something about it, but, contrary to popular (who am i kidding) belief, i do actually visit a Swedish forum from time to time. Flashback (what the site's called). It's the largest and most popular forum in Sweden.

There's one minor detail though. At least 50% of It's population seem to consist of horrible people, WAY WAY WORSE than Job, while the other half's actually extremely decent and well behaved.

I´ll demonstrate by contributing with a few Thread-name-samples below:

1: How do i as "beta" get laid? (sigh)
2: "Bath-pants" in the shower - on or off? (sigh)
3: Easier to get laid abroad - why?
4: Meet arab women - how?
5: How do i find a good woman? (what?)
6: How do i find a good man? (again..)
7: Are tall women superior in the meat-market? (meat-market=dating scene)
8: Somali men ranked as most handsome in Africa - Do you agree?
9: A majority of guys doesn't get laid - why?
10: All import-wives from Philippines previously prostitutes?

The list goes on, and that's mostly a mild version of what exists.

Conclusion: Go easy on Job, and, why are so many Swedes challenged, mentally?

a. No they don't, you've just pulled that stat out of your arse
b. It still doesn't have anything to do with your mental health narrative.

Actuslly, mental health issues = increased liklihood of drug use all around.

But I don't really care. If you choose to join the army, i.e., you sign a contract saying "I will kill people I've never met just because I'm told to" I think potential drug abuse is the least of your problems :)
