Excellent, I love the challenge of the cold, it’s rather cold up here in Skirtland, about 10c on the drive home from work with a north wind thrown in.

Shame you cant see this @Scouse dudes mad on his mtb down a steep slope
That looks like great fun!

I'm sat in caffi gwynant (best cafe in the world) after making it off the mountain. I was riding down it thinking I was doing awful - going slow, girling some bits I should have ridden - thinking "wtf are you going to do when the ride 'proper' starts you fucking loser"

Then it finished. Turns out I'd been nailing it but hadn't realised. Methinks I need to work on not being so hard on myself :)

@Big G - it was minging. Never using a bivvy bag instead of my lightweight tent in anything less than ten or twelve degrees again I think. Still - better that than working.

And my evening view was pretty spectacular:

Almost as good as my breakfast:

Scrapping inheritance tax and putting in a lifetime gift tax eh? Sounds like a great way to claw back inherited wealth - which is fundamental to a functioning democracy.

Like I've been saying for years.

So money which is taxed when earned is taxed again when passed on? Double taxation?

Sounds sensible...

It's earned by guy A. It's not earned by his kids - it's gifted for free. They shouldn't get a free ride and a stack of antidemocratic power just because granddaddy done good.

We've an idle wealthy class making all the rules for everyone who've no idea what life is like for average joe.

I knew you'd object though. You're knee-jerk anti-tax, but you're not rich. The very thing that would better your life (through well funded services, better educated more democratically engaged population not subject to the whims of unearned wealth) you hate the idea of.

Turkey who votes for xmas....

We also have a large chattering middle class who like projecting their views onto others, and presume to speak for how the working class live, whilst simultaneously deriding them as idiots for voting the wrong way or wanting to have a discussion on immigration. In reality they are almost as detached as the "rich" that the mere mention of results in your keyboard being covered in spittle from how the Average Joe lives, not that that stops them having an opinion and telling them they are all wrong at every opportunity.

Interesting that I have to be rich to think that paying as little tax as possible, and keeping as much of my own money in my pocket as possible is a good thing. Even more interesting is the fact that you clearly agree, considering your own well covered tax arrangements. Otherwise you wouldn't have arranged your affairs to pay as little tax as possible (which I don't have an issue with in the slightest, and is something everyone should do), now would you?
