It is considerably harder tearing off a perfect amount of toilet paper and wiping your ass with one hand (as you are reading newspaper or some such with the other) when it's in "under orientation".

Anyone used MusicBrainz Picard to bulk re-tag and organise their music collection?

Got about 100Gb of music in reasonably haphazard state and I just want to queue it up and go. But do I trust it? @TdC? Anyone? Or should I just go with Mp3tag?

Also an interest to me, @caLLous mentioned filebot but that didn't like music so much. Good for films though.

I have never found anything that renames my music properly yet.

I use MP3Tag for music, I haven't found anything else I trust yet. I like all the album art to be spot on and I do some fancy things with the comment tag so I need to do it myself I think.

Got too much stuff to even consider the idea of having much input. Gotta be automatic.

I'm still working my way through studio albums, the rest is just a messy mess. I still use Winamp because I still think it has the best media library around and it presents stuff in a way that makes sense (for the most part). It's just not right how *I* like it (ie for album folders: <artist> - <album> (<year>) and filenames: <track number>_<artist>_<track>.mp3 - the latter all in lowercase). Mostly the ID3 tags themselves are in order but it's still nice to have it all proper.

edit - you could give NeatMP3 a spin. Never used it but it seems to think it can fill in missing tag info.

But I dislike the idea of auto tagging for music because it relies on peoples' contributions and there could be different naming conventions used or different versions of albums or bonus discs or what have you. It's slow and laborious to do it manually but at least I know it's all 100% correct.

Meh. I've copied the entire collection to another HDD and added it into Picard. 10064 files! I'll see what it does and how long it takes when I click go :)

So Iraqis are queuing outside the Iraqi embassy in Helsinki today to get temporary passports so they can go home

Apparently finnish is too difficult and the food is bad (actual quote from lady interviewed on news this morning)

Fair enough. People move for lots of reasons. If Finland makes them so sad it's not worth it then they'd be stupid to stay eh?

So its about 700 people, out of 26,000 Iraqi asylum seekers, so about 2.5%. That would seem pretty normal to me. I would imagine Finland is probably one of the most alien places in Europe even for other Europeans, never mind Iraqis, and even without that, shit happens to make people change their plans.

Must admit I've finally moved on from Winamp as it seems to have too much broken functionality these days - currently trying MusicBee, seems to do all Winamp did and is still fully supported. Good for making Mix CD's for the car too.
