A guy in work love it. Did right to buy on his £200k house in London and got it for £60k. Waited however long he had to wait. Sold it for £200k and moved to Essex and bought a 4 bedroom house for £130k and never had another mortgage. I wish it was that easy now

Right to buy is an awful idea.

It created a temporary loophole for a few amount of people but left long term issues for people that genuinely relied on social housing.

Now we have a society of rogue landlords who say m8 alot.

Tenants have never had more power. Its not dodgy landlords that are the problem (that's the easy Daily Mail argument), its lack of housing stock in the right areas that pushes up rental costs. Plenty of other countries do fine with very limited social housing stock; best example probably being Germany, which has a much bigger rental market than the UK, but 95% of it is private landlords. Said it on here before; the problem with housing in the UK is around planning policy, not council houses or migrants or any of that tosh.

I see the Poles are going on strike, mainly to bring attention to their input into the UK economy.
With the best will in the world, I can't see this going down well, all my friends in construction have seen their work decimated by Eastern Europeans, in fact most of them are now taxi drivers, earning half of what they did on much longer hours.
I only get work because very few migrants take the qualifications, but usually I just end up charging £100 quid to write out the cert for equipment installed by Poles/Hungarians, their work is second to none and they are underselling themselves to keep rich property developers richer while pushing out skilled British workers to low paid jobs and ultimately increasing the wealth gap.
My mates who are Landlords are simply putting the saved money in their pockets.

We're a nation of migrants, it's how it kind of works.

In order for an economy to grow, industries have to grow, therefore you'll need more employees, and since we've become very tertiary centred, the 'natives' (What ever the fuck that means) won't do the manual labour that needs to be done.

The problem is that our Government has frozen/cut budgets for our services, NHS, Schools etc etc, so then we blame immigrants for our schools being over crowded and having long waiting lists and having over-crowded schools.

My Mum did it the other day, then I pointed out that 3-4 schools were shut down in the city centre recently, the immigrants didn't do that.

As for more money - I think people have gone on strike for more money, not necessarily a group of Poles; it's not their fault that a large chunk of an industry is made up of Poles.
