Waiting for Scouse, TdC or Tom to draw some arrows onto a still image of the parked car showing how the car should have parked and the rules clearly in favor of the bicyclist.
Don't think anyone has ever argued in favour of cyclists when they've been technically incorrect on this forum. It's the rabid cycle-hater brigade who rage hard around here. :p

Or just don't give much of a shit but find the religious frothing that comes from cyclists when you wind them up hilarious :)

That gets funnier every time I see it.
I think the guys a twat for running the red light - but it gets more boring every time I see it because I'm not full of raging hate :)

You don't think the little comedy bump hilarious? Being able to see someone's god complex come crashing down around them, brilliant?

I think you are covering something.

Lots more amusing stuff on a failarmy vid tbh.

I just see an idiot learning a lesson tbh. Amused and annoyed me in equal measure first time. Watched it again and thought "why"? But then we know why - some humans are just dicks.

Whilst we're on cyclists, I saw this a few days ago and was surprised nobody posted it.
Youtube
The bus driver was charged with running a green light since he was automatically at fault for going through a green. Ignorant motorist !! ! !! !

Saw that some time ago. I'm all for hating on stupid cyclists but in this case it was an accident. One of the brake wires broke so he couldn't stop in time. One can argue that he should have checked his bike better before setting off and adjust the speed for the conditions, but not everything is always what it seems.

Sorry, I call shenanigans. He was still pedalling!

There are other ways of stopping a bike then ramming it into the back of a car :p

If you want my honest opinion about cyclists then it's this; you're either part of the motortraffic, or a "pedestrian", you can't have both.

Unlike some of the f*cks seems to think and use both laws as they suit them.

He said: “It was me. Thought i’d just get the lights, hence the speed. Realised it wasn’t happening, squeezed the front brake. Cable snapped. Not enough time to lose speed on back wheel in the wet. Not fun.”

He added: “It’s a fixed back wheel, front brake for urgent braking, pushing back on the pedals gives you controlled but sadly slower braking with the back wheel, so what you see is me pushing back as hard as i can but it’s a cr** bit of road surface and it was wet.”

A fine example of why bikes not only need regular personal maintenance but also an MOT of sorts.

"Thought I'd just get the lights" Which had clearly been on red for a while...and it doesn't look like he's pushing back on the pedals at all. Oh, and the road is wet, which increases your braking distance anyway.

indeed. tbh he wasn't allowing for the circumstances the weather and road surface gave him. one of the things my driving instructor drilled in to me over and over and over was to always allow for the circumstances. also, as a biker I believe that all bikes should have two brakes, even if they're fixed.

Actually - looking at the footage @DaGaffer - he's not pedalling through the lights.

Also:

I get my bike serviced on a regular basis. In fact, I'd say more than regular - the guy at my LBS jokes that he's got me on speed-dial. I figure if I'm going to be hurtling down rocky hillsides then everything needs to be working in perfect order. (Well, that and I like my bike more than my Type-R - which rarely gets any love and attention - mainly because Honda engines are built like brick shithouses).

Despite this - I've had brake failure. Things can flick up from the pavement and hit your cable and frame (and you) all the time sometimes cutting and damaging them. Or sometimes they just snap. Happened to a mate when one was new on.

If you're using your bike on a daily commute you probably do look after it better than most people simply because a badly maintained bike is a pain in the ass to ride...

Anyway - I thought about our exchange eariler when you made my point about my lack of rabid-ness. I think it's just because if you ride and drive a lot you can see both sides of the equation. But I see the anger mostly from the driver side of the equation - and it boils down to the fact that they see cyclists fly past them when they're pissed off in traffic jams and deep down, whether they admit it or not, they're jealous - and become more critical of minor misdemeanours. Not that car drivers don't commit them - but you turn on "other" rather than "same" first...

Edit: LOL! - Doesn't anyone clock the Taxi Driver who runs the *same* red light? Check it - it's definitely red before he gets over the line. In the right hand lane turning right. I think the bus may actually beep him :D

Edit edit:
and it doesn't look like he's pushing back on the pedals at all.
Showing your age there Gaff. Almost no bikes outside of some cheap shit that you buy a 7 year old brake through that mechanism. ;)

What the hell are you talking about? He's definitely pedalling. I've watched it about 10 times, he's definitely moving his legs forward.

And:

Not my words, his.

I'll concede your point about the taxi though, although we know they're all bastards anyway.

I think he's moving his legs in a panicked fashion as he starts going through the cycle box - you can pedal slowly but not gain any forward momentum because your hub doesn't engage. I've done similar myself when you know shit's going wrong - you pedal, hit the breaks, pray to a non-existent fairy etc.. - anything.

But either way - yeah, taxi driver jumping a red light is the bigger issue here. If the cyclist hits the bus it's the cyclist that takes the pain...

dude, he's riding a fixie. if he forced his legs to stop he'd skid the back wheel and possibly lose control. that is to say if he actually even had the leg power to stop his momentum.

he'd need to do a controlled skid-stop; that's how fixies brake in emergencies (and for the lulz). that takes skill and some space to work it though.

I know. But it's flat where you live so I can definitely see the attraction there - simplicty of service, looks cool etc.

If you've got mega hills pretty much everywhere you go then fixies become things for wierdo's who love a bit of punishment IMO. I know a couple of lads in the UK with them and they're both hardcore triathletes - so the single-speed gives them a much harder workout than they'd get if they just enjoyed their cycling ;)

Edit: What I will say is that if that chap who hit the bus is riding a fixie then he probably does keep it in good nick @Raven - they're not common as muck in the UK - they tend to be for hardcore weirdo's an "enthusiast" thing...
