Yeah its OU, supposed to be 20 hours a week, 1 assignment a month.

I did all the reading and wrote the assignment in about 5 hours though and got 80% for the last one.

I did a module for a psychology degree once. Was interesting. But I really didn't want to sit exams again. I got the 30 points module credit if I want to pick it up again I guess hehe. The amount of books and dvd's and stuff I got sent through for that module was huge heh

If I won the lotto (which I'm not allowed to), I'd go back to uni to do a history degree. I've always fancied studying for a degree for its own sake (rather than to ultimately get a job, like my first two), but I hate part-time study.

I agree. Picking a subject to study and just doing it cause you want to and not to get a job.

That's what I am doing it for, a subject I enjoy and because I know I am more than capable of doing a degree (despite leaving school with no GCSEs)

Everyone can do them and everyone can get funding for it (via the loan) and pay it back at a nominal amount.

Well you can't use it at Steam, Amazon, Aldi, Sainburys or in the pub so not massively useful.

I think you can get 10p of a burger at McDonalds or something but a, I don't eat that crap and b, I wouldn't bother getting it out my wallet for that much.

One day I might go and get shit faced at the local student union bar but the "youth of today" are so dull, they give me a headache

I think you can get a free cheeseburger at mcdonalds when you order some kind of meal if you show them your student card.

A degree just for the same of it...sounds great, let me hit my toe with a hammer to see what it's like.
Do you really need a building and teachers to learn .

These days? Nope. You only need that fancy building with people in it if you want to use those skills to get a job.

No, I do it at home. I have never even met my tutor :)

Yup, old attitudes are holding back the most obvious way to learn.

I find Dan Carlin's stuff to be very listenable-to. So far I've worked through Wrath of the Khans (the Mongols were badass) and most of Blueprint for Armageddon.

I think he's got a bit of flak from more educated historians, he's an "amateur" but his research is impeccable, you can't doubt his enthusiasm for the topic at hand.

Yeah and the small print always gives them the option to throttle your connection if you start hitting 20-30gb
