Did you know that the whole carbohydrates thing originates from diabetics? We used to count carbs(some/most still do) because those are what affect the blood sugar. Same happened with "light" drinks, or "diet" drinks. Were a useful thing, became a trending hippie bull.

Annoying, as i've said before, now people think i'm trying too hard or some such if i order a light coke with a MacD meal (and other such situations, like ordering a rum&coke at a bar).

Now it's coeliacs turn to get the same bull thrown at them.

Apart from some of them become seriously ill with anything with gluten in them. So it's not bull - what's happening is that we've identified the source of their problems.

The advice for coeliacs has been great for my niece. It's transformed her life as she's been suffering for a long time. Good on the scientists for throwing their bull around.

Yep my godfather as well. He was miserable before, turns out he is coeliac and now his life is gluten-free and immeasurably better.

That's true coeliacs though. Personally I am a sort of coeliac lite, I can have a bit and be fine but too much and I feel wretched.

There are plenty of people who don't even understand what gluten is yet still avoid it like the plaque, usually arsehole yummy mummies being overly fussy. and as mentioned, it is abused by retailers with any old item being labelled up as gluten free and sold at twice the price, regardless of whether it had any in the first place.

Gluten intolerance is fashionable at the moment, fuck only knows why because it is actually a massive pain in the arse.

I think tohts point was that its gluten-free "fad" dieters that are going to give people who actually medically need gluten-free prodicts a bad rep not that he is unhappy that they exist

gluten-free "fad" dieters
Are few and far between.

Like I said - there's probably a few of them, and there's certainly populist bullshit on the internet - but actual people who are doing this? Not many at all. It's a non-problem - and even if some retards choose to do it - who cares? Where's the problem?

I had allergies when I was like five years old, and my doctor thought it was gluten, so the entire family started on a gluten free diet. When my mom served us corn flour pancakes, my brother almost killed me because he thought they were that shit and wanted good ol' regular flour pancakes. My allergies continued so it wasn't gluten, but then the allergies just sorta stopped afterwards and now I eat what ever

Yep, doctors get it wrong sometimes. Nice that your entire family started the gluten free thing for you tho - even better that it turned out that you're not coeliac.

I feel bad for my niece - she goes to university this autumn and she won't be able to do a lot of the sociable things that you don't think about - like share a bit of pizza with her mates.

Meant the bull i mentioned regarding diabetics and diet stuff, in other words; people thinking coeliacs are the same as hippies on gluten free cleansing diet bs.

Are few and far between.

Not really, those fads are quite popular. So much so that it becomes general knowledge.

And as Raven mentioned; the prices are ridicilous because of those fad peeps.

By the by, don't feel sorry for your niece, it's not as "bad" as people think it is. Effects on life enjoyment are actually rather miniscule ;)

My mum is a coeliac. Even the slightest gluten contamination nearly kills her. Her teeth are ruined too because it inhibits the body's ability to assimilate calcium. Which doesn't help her bones either.

what troubles me are the deltas, or lack of them:

a greater %age of people would rather be farmers than astronauts
an equal %age of people would like to be an olympic athlete or an MP
to a %age of people there are things that are less desireable than being a traffic warden

Depends how the question was phrased.

I am pretty sure if you said. If you could do anything in the world what would you like to do? People would say cleaner.

If you gave them a list and said. What job are you prepared to do? You get a different answer.

What about the 23 that are estate agents? Just minor cunts?

I don't get the estate agent thing. They're just doing a mercenary job - you know that any deal can fall through before the contract is signed - and that the estate agent will try to get the best deal for their client. If the deal falls through it's the homeowner that's a cunt.

Yeah, you interface with the estate agent, but it's just a case of shooting the messenger IMO.

ofc. for my final thing I am doing a tonne of questionnaire design. it's next to impossible to get them right. if your questions aren't leading, then it's your design, or the order of asking, or how people feel that day. it's cool though, as long as you take that in to account when interpreting the data. then you get PRESENTING the findings from the data, which is a completely different ballgame yet again 0_o

So are traffic wardens. Getting paid for a job, if you always park well then you won't have a problem. I only ever had one parking ticket and was when I left my car on yellow hatched area in a car park so can't complain

It doesn't matter what job you do, if you have to do it you will grow to fucking hate it with every bone in your body.

meh, in my case, it's boredom, not hatred. I love and have loved every minute of learning to do what I do. Except that now that I finally have a vague inkling of how to go about it I find myself with a burning desire to do something else. Thank god for schools. I just spent 4 years gathering the skills to trade this guilded cage for a new one.
