Yes because that's how the times made his brain. There were three major conflicts in one life time. Once you are in the military your head can be messed with to make what your doing acceptable. They have to make killing seem normal or you are dead.

Okay, let me rephrase the question then.

Should we celebrate peoples skewered mentality because of war then?

The question is too ambiguous.
Hmm, I don't think it is, if you're going to pick people out and say yeah, they're brilliant people because they saved the country from invasion, but in the process killed hundreds of people and felt glad about it whilst doing it, but that doesn't matter, because we saved them.

Personally, I think it's dangerous to celebrate a character by ignoring certain parts of their characteristics or their actions.

Let's take Nelson Mandela for instance, what he did was great, but why does his good so heavily outweigh the bad he's done?

On a slightly different note, let's look at Jimmy Savile as an example of the reverse.

We unfortunately need an army as a deterrent and as a civil order backup. So we need to 'celebrate' these type of people to encourage more to join.

If we didn't and treated them like shit no one would want to join, we would have no armed forces and would be less of an influence in the world.

Also armed forces do humanitarian work these days too.

But in order to maintain a defence force and wanting to be a part of the world it's a necessity that those who have taken a part in the profession and excelled in killing or not dying should be highlighted to show those who may join its not just death that's waiting for them.

it doesn't but as you said victors write the history books. Brits have done all sorts of shit stuff but it's mostly forgotten cause we keep winning.

War is caused by leaders...if we shoot everyone who shows the slightest disposition to lead people the world would be a much better place.

Is this your serious opinion?

Yes because in Pale Blue Dot Carl Sagan points out that roughly 5 billion people have died in wars started by the egos of less than 600 leaders.

Why don't they just look for other blue dots like that and see if there's similar civilizations out there. Silly scientists.

Was going to try out GTA Vice city on my phone because San Andreas was pretty cool until I checked the device ID requirements which requires you to allow them to see your phone number, wether you are in a call and who you are calling..on a paid app as well...fuk this shit becoming the norm..you are effectively giving info on your mates to Rockstar..they need to address this shit.

and probably no noticeable difference between that and your phone. No wonder they are struggling.

I'd expect 5g and unlimited life streaming for that price.
I'd want a blow job off the bird who sold me it.

In fact, I'd want a whole evening to go to town on her ass in a nice hotel room.
