My first experience of the Internet was a shocker....yahoo chat room one in around 96 / 97 I found some wonderful people there, some are still friends of mine today... But the number of durteh durteh people there was an eye opener. My modem at that time was pitiful and the number of crashes astounding, although during that time I drank a lot of tea as patience became an art in itself. I only really began gaming in 2000 ,,,with STEF and I found I was a c*^# with an instagib rifle... Thought people who played mmorpg's were pussys....look at me now ;/

Two hour relogs on dragon groups in Malmö on daoc cause of the fair use policy for dial ups.

512k was awesome when we first got it. With the sting ray modem that was only supposed to connect to one pc hehe.

My first experience of the "internet" was borrowing my mates 33.6k (if memory serves....) modem and registering for a free trial of AOL back in 1995 (maybe 1996) and downloading the Quake alpha test from ID's FTP site.

I quickly moved onto Wireplay for Quakeworld ~1997 and then "borrowed" a BT 0800 account for a while, then a RedHotAnt account before they imploded badly. I started paying for proper internet (Pipex) around 1998 and got broadband (again, Pipex) in 2003. Man, if I had a pound for all the people on the internet that fucked my mother. I remember getting absolute abuse for having Pipex dialup because being on Nildram was like NERD SWAG at the time. Only losers, whiners, HPBs, dweebs and idiots went with Pipex.

I was forced to ragequit and cry into my girlfriend's labia whilst she sucked my cock :(, jeez Pipex you ruined my internetz.

Can't really remember how i got on the "internet" to be honest, it kind of just became more and more part of PC use as i've always been a PC user.

I was mostly concentrating on solo games/3d modeling though when it started up.

I think my first modem was a 9600. I had to use some unwieldy South African software to connect to the internet.
I had it for months with no proper search engine to speak of. I had no idea what to do with it....or could not really find anything of interest.

Then after a year things progressed!

I'm not ging to make a "what came with the dreamcast" joke here :p

I am going to say that "woot! resident evil tv show planned!", breathing hope for seeing a zombie apocalypse show on a weekly basis.

It was a bastardised version of IE. Making a crap experience even worse... It was only really there so Sega could try and sell games direct.

Just watched Automata..really strange drawn out and dark...basically the 3rd revolution from Animatrix but very compelling..seems to be a UK production starring Banderas and whats left of Melanie Griffith..cheesy and unlikely scenarios but I really enjoyed it.
