Hmmm. According to that link over 50% of them are from Russia or the US.

Clearly Maggie's fault then!

Well, since she was keen to take credit for the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of Keynesian economics, yeah, kinda!

Cool! Let's rebuild the wall to prevent poverty, which would never happen in a system set up for social justice like Communism!

Oh wait....

It's a global economic system - and the massive explosion in private wealth came about chiefly because of English and US-backed reforms.

I mean, I know you're from Stoke, but you are aware of other countries and their interconnectedness aren't you? Or are you the sort that votes UKIP too?

I am aware of other countries, yes. I've even been to some of them. They're the ones where everyone talks funny and the food is a bit dodgy, right?

Not that I'll be going to any again, as Lord Night of Farage has told me they are bad. And he's right about everything, the Daily Mail told me so.

(You're talking bollocks as usual Scouse).

I was taking the piss because your post clearly ignores (or you just didn't get*) the point I was making.

I was talking about a small number of people holding the same amount of wealth as half the global population. A point clearly about global wealth concentration, the global economic system and the global population. And you're banging on about 'foreigners', like your post was even remotely connected to the point.

Your post belied a UK-centric view utterly disconnected from the (obvious) point...

*I vote that, tbh tho. Past form for massive misunderstanding and all.

Did it bollocks, that's you just reading what the fuck you want into my posts as usual, to allow you to find some new and obscure way of taking the moral high ground, whilst throwing in a personal dig or two. Par for the course really*.

I was just querying how the growth of wealth of people in the US was somehow linked back to policy decisions made by Thatcher, as if you think we really have an influence on what goes on across the pond. Which is quite quaint really.

* Please note the use of an elitist sport metaphor to induce maximum righteous Scouse rage.

Fucklol!

Global trade treaties. Tax rules. Banking laws. Fucking global economic collapse. Yadda yadda yadda.

Actually, I should just go back to flat out insulting you

Oh and Right On Comrades! Way to prove why most decent unis leave the NUS...

your article said:
Bouattia, who is studying postcolonial theory and language, at the University of Birmingham, said she would put forward a new motion that will condemn ISIS but “in no way pander to Western imperialistic intervention or the demonisation of Muslim peoples”.

The student studying postcolonial theory and language is going to put together an alternative motion to condemn ISIS.

Do you often have problems with clever people objecting to certain courses of action on democratic grounds and proposing better alternative solutions?

Clever people don't study postcolonial theory at Birmingham. I've also read the original motion, I'm struggling to see his point, pretty sure Islam is only mentioned once, when they name check IS. Maybe they'll just change the motion by using the abbreviation instead.

I think you probably should stick to the insults, as you suck at patronising people.

Your big-boss probably has a degree in Latin.

Is he 'clever'?

I agree with what they're saying, they're not accepting the small print, so they're going to discuss it again.

Good headline though

FUCKING STUDENTS LOVE ISIS.

Maybe you'd prefer the Independent take on it?

http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/nus-will-condemn-israel-and-ukip-but-not-isis--lJLK98e7Ul

Interesting they don't want to appear islamophobe, buy offending the Jewish community? Fair game.
Still the same 'fuck the students' kinda attitude;

At our most recent NEC meeting, a motion on this issue was presented and voted on by all members. Some committee members felt that the wording of the motion being presented would unfairly demonise all Muslims rather than solely the group of people it set out to rightfully condemn.

I think they're happy to condemn ISIS but with the right wording, as Students, they're probably thinking about what they're doing, rather than happily supporting America to bomb Islamic nations.

Clearly, I haven't seen the exact question they debated, but I think I'd vote in the same favour, Israel massacred thousands, and we did nothing about it, so there's no 3rd party to take into account, whereas I think the students are probably a bit more skeptical about the West saying 'The students support us attacking ISIS.' Rather than 'The students don't like ISIS.'

Who's being condescending now? Study hard at Uni and therefore have first hand knowledge of what it's like? Even a "shit" one, like brum?

Perhaps if you'd studied postcolonial theory and language you'd understand his point - just like the clever students who democratically voted to postpone the vote after hearing him out - and agreed to reword the motion?

Most students cba with the nus from my experience it's a card that gets u discounts.

The view is from the politically active minority who think they are going to be pm or get a better job with this on their cv

So whatever the outcome it's about as representative as a twenty percent turn out at a national election.

Also. There's no reason why anyone shouldn't have their say at an election and after reasoned debat, if people are insecure about a phrase or motion it's better to post pone it than say what they think like some MPs have done recently.

Students aren't thick. Or stupid. But don't have the world experience and bias that a lot of us old guys do. So let them have their say. It doesn't mean anything until next May.

No I studied a real subject, that has actually proved useful in getting me a job and be a productive member of society. Not entirely sure what postcolonial theory will get you, other than a sense of professional offense or maybe a job with the Labour party (I suspect these are one and the same). It's just another pointless degree, the sort created in the 00's to try and get more people to uni, a fairly easy subject for the hard of thinking.

No idea what goes on with the NUS though, as our University didn't join, due to it being a complete waste of space. People only joined to get into uni bars and get a discount at HMV, no one really gave a shit about the political side of things at our place outside of the debating society.,

I joined the NUS, sticking it to the man!

I have no idea what they actually do, nor do I care but I get some rather handy discounts!

I'm not entirely sure why you think the led bulb story is bolax except maybe that tech is all over the world and every Tom Dick and Harry are claiming it...but the up to 9 years clearly includes 5 minutes.
