Its funny really, one of my best mate's dad is Irish, and hes always talking about the 'bloody pakis' down the road. The funny thing is that he doesn't hate them, to him they're just a bunch of people who have their ways, just as Irish people like him have theirs. Hes a proper salt of the earth man as well, worked hard all his life, has a nice house to show for it, lots of friends both 'paki' and Irish, and is possibly the person I have the greatest respect for of anyone I know.

I wonder if, at the end of the day, people will go on about excuses, religion and what have you, but deep down its the colour of thier skin thats the issue. What about if all the reviled "racists" are actually right? Fucking scarey if you ask me. MY views may already be known on here. I suspect Islam is the end of the fucking world, and may need to be removed from this country. I suspect that "moderate" muslims - some of them my friends - would sooner go against everything this country is rather than disagree with thier own religion.

Quite alot more people turning up in the pubs these days with that sorta view tho. Got a skinhead mate who's a die-hard member of SHARP, setup the local UAF and the like, and even he agrees racism is getting worse. Too many unhappy stupid people in this world.

This whole thing stinks to me, one day after Brown becomes MP two very amateurish terrorist attacks. If the details are correct there's some blatant faults in them.

- The cars bombs were parked illegally, and didn't explode.
- The Jeep couldn't fit through the airport doors, and didn't explode.
- The 'terrorists' were doctors (and didn't explode).

Now maybe i'm not savvy on the terrorist circles but doctors? They're supposed to be intelligent aren't they? This doesn't fit with me, they're in a profession that has the aim to make people better - the very people they hate? Also they're well paid and have a decent future, why sacrifice that?

Either it's a message to Gordon Brown, or it's some "omg conspiraceh!" government ploy. Fear controls people, or even - maybe all the media attention was on brown and his new cabinet. And it's a nice media diversion in case they discovered something juicy!

Well there are too many immigrants, we opened the flood gates to refugees. The whole of Europe rejects them, and we take them in.

A smart government would have got involved in the conflicts that created these refugees and helped them to live a decent life in their own countries. But heh, no oil to be had that way. We seem to live in the only country that feels guilt for not acting and then fucks itself in the arse because of it.

I don't think its right to accept every refugee with a plausable story. This country just isnt big or rich enough to deal with that many people.

There are enough domestic problems to deal without adding to them.

There's the problem, actually two problems - we're NOT a world power, and we've been punching above our weight for far too long, and no, we DON'T have a responsibility to get involved everywhere, and actually we SHOULD pick and choose. At the moment is seems to be, "if the US is in, then so are we", in the past British governments have been a lot more circumspect, which is why we never went to Vietnam, despite the US desperately wanting us there (because we'd proved we could win a similar type of war in Malaysia and elsewhere). I'm with Throd, Afghanistan yes, Iraq, no, and even with Afghanistan, the objective should be realistic, the British of all people should know that Afghanistan will never be a happy-clappy democracy, and we should probably break the place up, leave the Pashtun to kill each other off, but quarantine them so they can't get in or out. Harsh, but they're a harsh people.
