Does the weight of that not want to rip it out the body? Looks madness.

That is a bit mad. As there's no IS, it's very shaky in this oldie's hands. The 50mm is sweet though (as I fancied some f/1.4 shots) . The more expensive adaptors allow a change in aperture. There is a trick to force the aperture to change but it has to be achieved on a SLR first.

I do that trick with my cheap £7.99 macro extension tubes. Fiddly, but fun for the price!

And for people walking across the arch to look at sea birds at the end stack.

Middle of next month. Bought a BH-55 for the trip which arrived today:
I love RRS stuff, I bought their monopod head and a couple of lens plates last year, it's all so well-made and lovely. I would love to get a the L-plate for my camera body and a "proper" ball-head. I have the Gitzo off-centre head atm and it's a royal pain for everything that's *not* off-centre (it just... flops :( ). The BH-55 ball head does look mighty but it's beyond my needs so I was aiming for the mid-range BH-40. I had a kids' football tournament coming up so I had to go for the monopod head. The amount (or lack) of play on the monopod head has convinced me that their ball-heads will do me just fine. :)

The tax is so bloody expensive getting it shipped from the US to France, though. :(

I use a Kirk L Plate which fits a treat into the BH-55.

My existing ballhead is a study Vanguard that's been vandalised to take an Arca Swiss style plate. It keeps working loose. I looked at the Arca Swiss Z1 SP on WEX and including shipping but excluding duty/VAT, the BH-55 was about the same price.

I tried some portraiture. I'm not very good at it, but I'd like to learn properly... I'm more interested in people than buildings and rocks.
I need more practice.

I haven't contributed in here for a while, so here's a shot that I wouldn't normally post on Flickr.

Looks like you'll be able to get some good results out of that lens, nice one.

Thanks Wazz, I'm really enjoying it so far. I hadn't realised how much more light I'd need though!

Thanks Jimmy.

I started on building shots and street shots as that's what I have most access to in London. Shooting people is pretty daunting for me. I get nervous even they're my friends. I just can't shake that feeling of "I don't want to waste their time" for portraits and street shots just make me feel like a voyeur. I think once I get to the point where I trust what I'm doing, I'll stop giving a fuck about how I feel. Then I can concentrate on the picture taking.

Your wife looks wet by the way ;)
