I do think this shows the flaw with how ties are decided though. Russia have a better goal difference than Greece, so have scored more, and played better football. Yet they go out because Greece have a better result against them.

They should do it on goal difference, then goals scored.

I think it's disgusting because attacking play should always be rewarded. Russia scored more goals, and had a positive goal difference. For pure entertainment I'd rather see them through to the next round.

Also Greece will sink faster than their economy in the next round, which I suppose is some compensation for being forced to watch them

That's just flat out wrong Chet, straight from the "Barcelona deserve to win everything by default" school of football philosophy. Russia blew it, Greece won (and its not as if they were 11 men behind the ball the whole game), end of. I actually feel far more sorry for the Poles simply because losing a host country so early takes something away from the tournament (not that I don't want England to batter Ukraine on Tuesday).

I did not say this was a defensive Euros and I do not think it is at all. We have some amazingly open games because teams are going for it. Few teams are playing anti football I was just saying if Greece win his thing with negative football there is potential that more teams will try for the same at the next tournament and we will not have the excitement we have had in this one.
