I finally got around to watching Dune part 2. Very pretty, but not very good.
I just wish they were better films. I still think Reservoir Dogs is his best film (very closely followed by Pulp Fiction). But after that he started to be increasingly self-indulgent - he wants to write cool dialogue rather than cool dialogue that serves the story and moves it along. Dialogue for dialogue's sake - and that's reflected in running times.Kill Bill (Volume 1) in 4k. The 4k upscale is mid (It was filmed in 2k digital) but there are some improvements. The HDR on it though... That makes it so much better.
We're doing KB Vol 2 this week too, but from what I've heard it's significantly better grading. So that should be a fun, but long as fuck, watch.

Hateful Eight could have been brilliant, but because of all the "look at me - aren't I clever!" baggage it just made me think "I'm looking, and you used to be clever, but now you're ruining your own films".
But still. They are fun and I'll be setting sail soon![]()

We watched it recently.
Plot: 6/10
Soundtrack: 3/10 (The best song in it is the song from the first film) and shockingly the 2nd good song is the one sung by The Rock and that's saying something.
My son showed me the trailer to that today, all I kept saying was it looks like a cartoon.Nope nope nope nope nope.
Especially with the goggly eyed woman from mission impossible. But her aside, just nope.
I quite like the retro futuristic look. But tbh, I just can't be arsed with any of it any more.My son showed me the trailer to that today, all I kept saying was it looks like a cartoon.
Jurassic Yawn.
I guess I'm just too old for movies nowadays.
How odd, I finally got around to watching it last night as well. Yeah, it was crap, but my expectations for Ridley Scott "historical" (lol) movies are basically zero at this point, and Ridley Scott movies in general not much higher; The Martian was his last good movie, and House of Gucci the last that wasn't actually shit.I am going to have to watch the first one again, to try and cure my disappointment. It was so bad, it might ruin my week.
