Is HMV that disease from the 90s? What is this you speak of?

Citizen Kane - Never seen.

CK is genuinely great. It's quite long but holds your attention throughout.
It could've been edited in a different way to save 15-20 mins but whatever.

It's insane when you realise it's his first film, and he has the leading role, directed it and wrote it and it's one of the greatest films of all time.

Watched Martyrs (original ffs ) again last night, just grim and brilliant. Thing is I've got another French film mixed in with it and I can't remember the title. It was 2 punky looking girls, broke into a house and tortured a woman. Any idea? It isn't Them.

Top Gun: Maverick, is a profoundly silly film which is equal parts irritating and enjoyable, which makes you feel even more irritated for enjoying such hokum.

Oh, and...
My wife, who wouldn't know a lighsabre from a lampshade, leaned over and said, "isn't this the plot of Star Wars?" She was not wrong...

I missed this at the cinema (I swear they don't stay in for long now, it used to be a good 2 months) and was disappointed. I watched the original in the cinema and wanted to do the same here. But I watched it at home and am blown away. I know it's daft, but it works very well. The flight sequences are breathtaking - real aircraft, real people in them, real backgrounds, real g-force. It's superb cinematography. I love how they got the actors struggling to breathe, their faces distorted. The shots of the stick, buttons, controls - all superb. Yes the script is nothing to write home about, but for a plain old action film - I think it's fucking outstanding. I must have watched Maverick's simulated run on the target a dozen times now. It's fantastic.

That doesn't narrow things down much, there was a period where that was the plot of every other French film.

Hindi film. Off the scale bonkers from start to finish.

Not a movie, fail.
Honestly, watch it. It's been part of the conversations we've had around here, but much more eloquently expressed.

14 minutes of your life well spent.

*And this is the General Film thread - it's not the "post movie trailers" thread. Intelligent discussion isn't banned :)

...and generally, he is right. Modern films are mostly hot garbage, we celebrate mediocrity because we are so used to dross.

Yep, 100%. And his worries for the future strike a chord.

Is it the one Netflix? It says RRR Hindi but the default language is Turkish? lol?

Yeah, fuck knows what's going on there, said the same on mine, but it's all Hindi and a bit of English.
