He knows it's shit he is just kowtowing to the sponsors (who, by rights, should have absolutely no input in to how the sport is run).

Then the sponsors need better advisors. Making qualifying boring is going to lose viewers. The race itself is becoming less and less relevant due to ever more self defeating regulations that the whole sport is on the brink of collapsing.

With no actual statistics to hand and purely a flippant remark...it seems that barring mechanical failure or accident, the qualifying is what wins the race.

True to an extent.

I backed Rosberg for the title this year, before the season started. Also had a couple of quid on him yesterday, so happy days.
Apart from the one lap on Saturday Rosberg was dominant in all the sessions. Even then there was only 0.077 sec difference. I think Rosberg has his head in the right place this year and Hamilton keeps making mistakes.
I really didn't like Hamiltons little "Nico must have had an easy race" snipe that he kept repeating in all the interviews, very churlish. Got a feeling if Nico continues to win Hamilton will find something to blame, the car, the strategy, something other than himself.

We get it, you don't like Hamilton. I thought he came across really well after the race, you might've expected him to lay into Bottas for knocking him on the first corner but he put it down to a racing incident and didn't blame him at all. Everybody apart from you seems to be using adjectives like "gracious"...

I think he has learnt to speak to the press, he recently has been "gracious" in defeat but always seems to have a little poke. As for the Bottas incident. It was undoubtedly the fault of Bottas, however he did go for a very big gap that Hamilton closed on him a little too late for Bottas to do anything about it. Hamilton had assumed he could take the line, and forgot about his wing mirrors. Not just my opinion but that of the F1 press in general. If he had been leading it wouldn't have happened. He wasn't, so could he have got past Rosberg anyway? Rosberg has said he was pacing himself and didn't need to go any quicker to keep the Ferrari away. It is a shame about Vettel because I think he would have added some spice to the race, the Ferrari does look improved and I think in the early stages at least he could have been a factor.

So now he's faking all his emotions to come across as a nice guy? He really can't win can he?
He wasn't, so could he have got past Rosberg anyway?
He had significant aero damage to the side of his car, Mercedes reckoned it was costing him half a second a lap (iirc) so it's testament to his ability that he did as well as he did.
Rosberg has said he was pacing himself and didn't need to go any quicker to keep the Ferrari away.
Oh, so Nico did have an easy race then. Like you say, he said himself he wasn't pushing for most of the race. Did he have a single overtake to make apart from down the first straight and occasional lapping? You think it was a churlish poke, nobody else has even really mentioned it as it was just a statement of fact.

I like him but there is a massive difference between him and Rosberg, while Rosberg is keeping his head down and concentrating on racing, Hamilton seems to be chasing pussy, nothing wrong with that but could cost of the championship this year.

Citation needed.

It seems to me that getting two poles out of the two opening races means Hamilton doesn't have a problem driving his car. He's had a couple of shakey starts but his actual race-craft has been fine in both races (albeit playing catch-up because of said shakey starts).

Right. Well. He's got another World Championship in the bag since 3 of those articles were published (in fact he already had it in the bag) and Coulthard's one is just speculation. He may have taken his foot off the pedal (so to speak) after he secured the Championship. Who knows.

Sure, Hamilton has an active social life (a cursory glance at his Instagram will confirm that) but that's not something that has suddenly started happening. What he does with his downtime is entirely his business, if it starts affecting his on-track performance I expect people a lot closer to him than DC will have a word. Nobody did more pre-season testing laps in Barcelona.

He just fucked up a couple of starts which subsequently messed up both races, other than that he's been on pole in both grand prix and quick in both grand prix, despite carrying significant aero damage for 99% of the race in Bahrain.

Getting pole twice this year shows he isnt fucked up. Its just a case of people disliking someone who is winning imo

All I can see that he's got wrong so far this season is a couple of shit starts and then some bad luck to have Bottas ramming him.

Ah, history :)
He's lost the last five races.
It's not because he's been successful that I don't like him, it's because I don't like him. I'm a massive Valentino Rossi fan, who's been rather successful. I support those I like, for personality and flair at their sport.

Yeah, except for the rather awkward fact his form has dipped since then. He didn't win the last races of last season.

He has not gone to the wall, nobody is saying that but he is in danger of affecting his driving by being balls deep in Rihanna every weekend, or whatever.

My brother in law, who works with him, says he is a top bloke and I see no reason not to disagree.

I was gonna post about you guys arguing over two very good drivers and at each other throats over it....

but I won't now, as it's a good discussion.

I think it's way to early to say Rosberg has the upper hand, as we have seen Hamilton pull back far worse deficits in 2014. More interesting to me is where Ferrari REALLY are and how bloody quick that Haas is out of the blocks, so to speak :)

Ferrari have improved massively, Mercedes will still dominate though.

They have a faster package than last year but Kimi caught fire in Australia and Vettel didn't even finish the warmup lap in Bahrain. They need to stop catching fire and breaking down if they're going to put up any sort of challenge. Also, it's understandable why some teams don't like Haas and how they came to be but they have been very impressive for a debut team (albeit one with a car made up of an almost entire 2015-6 Ferrari).

Also I think you confused yourself with multiple negatives in your previous post.

I like that theres anpther semi competative car with Haas. Nice to see. Instead of another manor etc that trundles around way off the pace.
