hey everyone, im late getting online 2day coz summat very disturbing has happened, but enuf sed.

at dinner time 2day, me and my fellow comedians were walking home, and we went our seperate ways, living close to kim means she walks my way, so n e way, i noticed kim was walking behind me, and she speeded up and overtook me...

i dunno if i speeded up to keep the same pace as her, or if she slown down, but we were walking pretty much 2gether, only couple of meters in distance, same speed,

she never looked bak which is a shame, i thought she wud, which means she aleast has noticed me....

we got to the main road and she was just turning the corner, she looked at me, leaving it to the last second, and she only looked for 0.05 seconds, i think it was to see if i was looking at her, but cud have been n e thing, i also saw her in the cantine with her m8s, she saw me looking at her, so i guess its starting to look petty obvious to her now that i like her alot

n e wayz, that was the highlight of the day, ill tell u 2morrow all the gory details again :)

just give her a little lop-sided smile next time she looks at you then turn and walk off like you've got things to do next time :)

You useless bugger.

On a plus note, the whole "she's looking at you quite a bit" thing might be a good sign. Do the smile at her trick in a non sarcastic and non psychotic way.
Dont beam at her like a demented chimpanzee, but dont do a nervous grin either. Just do a friendly smile, it works great.
Remember, she dont know you from Adam, so the friendly approach is best.

Who was it who said they were after a set of decks btw?

I'll be honest then. CD's would be better for you, like you say you got loads of stuff on CD already, but vinyl is l33t coz you look dead cool

'vinyl is leeter' etc
'Vinyl makes you look cooler'

Dear oh dear, I'm lost for words. It's evident how, or rather, why, you got into the whole scene

Yep cuz we got a passion for da tunez and tis nice having another skill innit :) Mixing isn't that easy... I had a go of some decks a while back expecting to find it piss easy but it wasn't :)

Also with the sorta music I listen to, mixin with CD's or vinyl wont make much difference, u cant really do loadsa tricks mixin trance :) Just stuff usin the mixer, frequency cutouts and shit... So if u got a line up of tunes and mixed 'em with cd, then vinyl, I doubt many peeps wud hear a difference innit

PS: sorry for sayin innit all the time ;)

And big charz to staz, look forward to hearin mo' stuffs from ya :)

You obviously dont have a clue about my DJ'ing Perp, so I'm not going to flame you.
For your information I got into DJ'ing 7 years ago, never thought for a second that I would end up playing anywhere, and I will always buy vinyl because you cant do with CD's what I can do with a 12" record. I got into it because I was fascinated by what the other DJ's I saw could do and because of a love for all things musical. Simple as that.

However, when you DJ professionally (like me), you find that in order to raise your profile amongst your peers, you have to do something that nobody else does. Hence the "it makes you look cool" statement. And I stand by that statement.
Ever see the DMC DJ's? Do they look l33t or what?
In other words, you put me in a club with my vinyl and then stick a CD jock on after me, the chances are the crowd are going to relate to the guy jumping up and down, scratching and appearing to physically be part of the set he's playing than the guy who is just pushing buttons.
I'm not belittling CD jocks, like TUG sez, there aint much difference 80% of the time, but with CD's you dont get the same "hands on" effect and this is what the crowd relates to in my experience.

As for you TUG, I'm trawling the web and trying to see what I can find for yuz :)

OK, well, first things first, get yourself a copy of DJ mag.

Basically you're a bit buggered if you want to buy new. There's a decent Numark package (CD Mix1) which weighs in at £439, a bit more than what your up for paying but its a damn fine setup.
I've not had a chance to look at the second hand sections, but keep in mind the names KAM, Citronic and Numark.
Basically, these brands aren't the best, not like Denon or Pioneer, but they are ideal for starting on and I've used most of them and they perform pretty well.

Citronic do decent cheap mixers, as do Gemini, at roughly 60 quid for a new 2 channel jobbie. The only sticking area is the CD player itself.
The best I can find is the Numark CDN 20 dual CD player for £275. That has pitch bend, frame search and all the other gubbins that DJ CD players do. Combine this with the Citronic CDM1 mixer for £59 and thats about the best (new) package I can find.
I found this at JB's Music Stores (01892 515007).

Like I said though, not checked for second hand stuff as yet.
Hope this helps. :)

lol dan :)

cheers staz.. i'll av a look thru loot later for stuff matchin those names, theres usually something to be found. Me m8s got a Gemini KL10 mixer. Has a few nice features which I'd like so if I could get one of those 2nd hand for 40-50ish that'd be cool, I'll have to look around.

I think, considering my financial status at the mo, I'll go for CD players, then when I have more cash I'll of course buy record decks as I'll be able to afford the vinyl then and I'd REALLY prefer record dex.. tis jus money tho :)

A phrase comes to mind about grandmothers and sucking eggs.

I've been a DJ for almost 5 years now, and have been strongly linked with the entire dance DJing scene since its inception in 1988 following through from the old acid (hate that term even today) house, through hardcore, and its breakup into the reggae influenced versions of hardcore (jungle techno, jungle, DnB etc)

As far as I'm concerned, as do the vast majority of my DJ peers, CD mixing is done for, and left to - the muppets. It has no feel, no touch, no human judgement, and as such involves a lot less skill and ability.

I never have, and never will respect, or even label a CD Muppet as "a DJ"
