No offence to any UTD fans, but I hope they get bodied by Spurs tonight. The way they are being run, they deserve nothing.
I am happy with the score at the moment.

The game showed why they were both at the bottom of the Premier league table.

Villa robbed.

The pen will be used to gloss over it, but a goal would have changed the game.

They were robbed but those are precisely the sort of dodgy decisions you want to keep in the game, aren't they? Had the ref not blown until the ball was in the net it would've gone to VAR and been overturned. So, yay for human mistakes, right?

VAR or no VAR it's still there isn't it. So what, exactly, is VAR doing here?

(Apart from stealing the immensely pleasurable and unique feature of football that is immediacy.)

Yes. I want to keep those things in the game. The game has been fucking brilliant with them. It's less so now. Much less so.

Fuck VAR, fuck it in the ass. It's very existence has made a bad decision worse - not just in the game, but the fact that on this forum we're now talking about V.A. fucking R, instead of Villa being robbed.

Good going VAR. We're still talking about you instead of the football.

But VAR couldn't intervene here so its existence is irrelevant. The ref fucked up, potentially costing Villa a Champions League place and £100m but hey ho, it was just like the good old days.

It's not irrelevant - we're talking about it, again.

And yes. A business didn't make money because of a refereeing mistake. GREAT.

It'd be a much more interesting conversation without VAR.

My best mate's a Villa fan btw. He'd still kill VAR if he had the chance (even if it could have intervened).

Good old-fashioned incompetence, the same incompetence that sees bad VAR decisions.

Have they considered removing incompetent people?

Ex footballers and football minded people should be encouraged to become refs.

...in passing, to say that it couldn't have been used to correct this situation... You then turned that into "BUT IT'S STILL THERE".
Watched the match. First thing that everyone talked about. First thing that you talked about.

Even when it's got nothing it can technically do, it's all we end up fucking talking about. Not how Villa were robbed, but about why the fuck VAR didn't intervene.

It soaks into every single bit of the game. It soaks into every bit of discourse about the game. It's shit.

The ending to the parade isn't good, hope they're not too seriously injured

Whoever did it probably lucky if they've made it out alive themselves

The impression I get is that some asshat was trying to move through the crowds, beeping at them to get them out of the way. He may have hit someone or pissed someone off but apparently his car was attacked, then it looks like he panicked and drove through a load of people.

May be bullshit, but we'll see how it pans out.

Edit: It might be that the fucker should have given up on moving his car until the crowds dispersed. Beeping at people in packed streets is going to mark you out as a cunt. My gut feel on the limited information is was he was an entitled prick who got attacked. It's the same sort of entitlement that makes car drivers think they're the most important thing on the road and moan incessantly about other road users - pedestrians, cyclists, caravans etc. It just feels familiar. An extreme version, but...

This was my immediate response and thought of this..

Never seen that before. Wowzers.

Interestingly, it starts with his entitlement. He's in his car, thinks he should be able to do what he likes. Then rage takes over. You can see his face when he finds out the roads are closed for parades.

It's just an extreme version of what cyclists see all the time - people in soft comfy chairs, with aircon and music systems raging at them and making their lives very dangerous (you should have seen the bus I was on the other day - he was about a foot off a female cyclists back wheel on a singletrack road - if she'd have had a puncture, or hit a pothole and come off she'd have been a goner). Cyclists do it too - running red lights at busy intersections. I'm not bothered if they run reds when there's no cars and nobody about - but you see them swerving through pedestrians sometimes. And it's entitlement, pure and simple.

If what we think holds true then it's still this fucker's fault - his sense of entitlement led him to beeping at crowds. The fact that the crowd then turned on him and scared the b'jeesus out of him was both their fault (you're responsible for your actions) but also his, because you act like a cunt, then you make it much more likely for other cunts to act like cunts...

I think we should blame the fans.

Jokes, but I do think as i've got older people driving through post-football match crowds do seem to be more dickheadish than I remember as a kid.

But yeah, speculation is all. It would be interesting to see the public reaction if he was neurodivergent.

Son just rang from the Conference league final and I got goosebumps from the noise coming down the phone.
