The Football Association confirms there will be no further action taken against Burnley striker Ashley Barnes for the challenge which led to Nemanja Matic's red card for Chelsea on Saturday.
In a series of tweets, the FA outline the protocol in place for not re-refereeing incidents which the match official has seen.
"In the vast majority of challenges for the ball, no retrospective action is taken as the incident has been seen by the match officials," tweet the FA.
"Retrospective action introduced as deterrent for 'off the ball incidents' [e.g. kicks, stamps etc.] committed out of sight of officials.
"Whole game in agreement that, in vast majority of cases, match officials are best-placed to deal with incidents to avoid re-refereeing."
I still see a hell of a fight coming on this whole issue besides what FIFA and UEFA say.

Almost identical one would say. That looks quite like
I don't get that. It was either violent conduct (which is 3 games) or it wasn't (red card rescinded). It seems odd to reduce it a bit. Oh well, at least he can't play on Sunday.Matic's ban has been reduced to 2 games.
