Even if it wasn't in your half, the defender is playing him onside by about 5 yards.
No cause the keeper is behind play. There needs to be two people between the goal and you. Usually it's the keeper. Plus one defender. Only reason this isn't offside is cause the pass was in their own half.

Great game between Man Shitty and Arseanal, brilliant result for Chelski :)

Actually, it turns out there's some second-to-last-man rule (it came in in 1990 and I genuinely had no idea it existed - page 37 of this pdf) that means that, had Vertonghen been in their half when the ball was passed with only that one defender ahead of him he WOULD have been offside because Pantilimon had gone up for the previous set piece. I never knew there were 2 players on the other team taken into account for it to be offside because the keeper is always taken for granted in that situation.

ANYWAY, all of that is moot because it happened in our half. If that had been a game-deciding goal ruled out then Chris Hoy would've been getting hell on twitter tonight!

I agree , they lucky that they didnt cost them the win with the decision. I actually thought it was pretty common knowledge that it had to be 2 men between the player and the goal (really only since 1990? sure it longer but than I would only been 8 then so guess it just I known the rule basically all my playing life).

Explaining the offside rule is tedious enough as is, i resort to just saying there needs to be to players between the attacker and the goal however the goalkeeper would be included in these 2. (people explain it as 1 defensive player which generally reason why people dont know the situation). Of course you then got to explain that it is at the time the ball is played forward and that if you in your own half or the ball is passed backwards then you can not be offside.

Really was a rookie mistake by the linesman because he was miles in his half and given the fact he had to chase after the ball when it crossed the halfway line kinda makes it obvious, it wasnt even close, he was a good few seconds behind it. Would love to be in the referee debriefing for that one.

.......
Anyways main thing I came on here for was to say how enjoyable the city/arsenal match was. Really wasnt expecting a match to be that good and without Yaya the city midfield is massively hurt. And they got a month without him basically which could well be all the time Chelsea need to pull out a massive lead in the title race.

Rumours of 480 mil Man City deal for Messi. Firstly he isn't worth that, nobody is. Secondly, how the fuck would that play with FFP rules?
easy, get Abu Dhabi Investment company to contract him say he is going to New York them loan him permanently to Shitty! Massive feeling of deja vu here ;)

Don't ruin my troll.

But in all honesty he's playing really well at WH in the CAM role.

I wasnt commenting on Downings general play. I was just baffled at the descision to have him as last penalty taker :)

Should be ahead against Chelski ce soir but you get the feeling that Chelski are settling at the mo.

Still see chelski haven't lost their diving touch under maureen.

Why? Have the travelling Liverpool fans nicked them all again?
Time travelling scousers nicking handed-out flags before the game's even started.

Dey're amazin' dem scousers eh la ;)

Edit: To be fair to maureen - I think that's a masterstroke. The liverpool fans see him as a panto villain and that's why they add that little bit of extra oomf when chelski come around. If he admits that he admires them then that villain status goes down. He's not stupid. Give him his dues.

If Birmingham was the capitol instead of London, most of those London sold shirts would be sold in Birmingham.

The only interesting part of that article is the Chelsea shirt sales to Africa.

I get what you mean and that is only natural with the sheer population London has although there are interesting titbits in the charts.
