Takes me back to when we lost to Gorica at home 5-0 after having won the first CL qualifying match 2-1 in Slovenia. Only this time we didn't have anything to play for, so it ain't really as bad. Although having conceded(so far) 9(NINE) goals at home in this group stage is unacceptable

edit. I just hope AaB go through. They've been great in the Europa League this year, and it'd be great with some extra points to Denmark seeing as we are not scraping in a whole fucking lot

One of the richest clubs, in one of the most expensive areas of the most expensive city in Europe. I should bloody well hope so. :)

It's a nice gesture but a nicer gesture would be going beyond.

Yes, it was good of then to follow the other big clubs in one of the most expensive cities in the world in paying a living wage.

Oh. Hang on....

It's amazing that any football club can be so callous as to pay people less than that no matter what they do considering the wages they see fit to pay the players. With that said, the entire world is based on the same principal - fuck the poor and keep doing it to keep them that way. Capitalism is gr8.

Any company that pays the living wage when they could just as easily pay minimum wage should be commended imo. There's still huge numbers of rich companies who don't give a fuck.

Yet Capitalism allowed Chelsea to make the profit to properly reward their staff. It really is the worst way of doing things.

Apart from all the others.

Anyway, this is a football thread! We can put the world to rights on one of the other 17 threads Scouse has started an argument on.

On the topic of Gerrard, does anyone else think he looks really haggard and old this season? Looks like he's lost a tonne of weight etc too, similar to how my dad did when he was ill.

Honestly I reckon the reality of him never winning the league after going so close has really burned him, especially with how it played out, hi being responsible for the defeat at Chelsea. It's like the whole weight of expectation has finally dragged him down.

He does not just look slow this year, he looks like a completely different player.

But kudos to him for sticking with Liverpool even in the tough times. He has carried the team for so many years, but once at of shoulders can only carry that much weight.

I think it was Chelsea, correct me if I'm wrong, who had him in their scope a couple of years ago. RM as well?

Slippy G will always be that player who deserved it more than most, but never got it, due to the fact he had to get on his own. At the end of it all I think he'll look back and think that Istanbul weighs up for that

Nah I'd go with Zola for that, in my completely unbiased opinion.

So who was/is ?

As above, Suarez and Alonso to name but two.

Gerrard is an above average player in a consistently average to below average side. He's lauded for his loyalty - rightly so. What he shouldn't be lauded for is being 'one of the best midfielders of his generation' because he's simply not. There's a reason recognised world class midfielders only talk about one English midfielder when asked who else they put in their bracket - and it's the one that was forced to rot on the left while playing for England to accommodate Gerrard and his absurd propensity for useless hollywood balls.
