Very harsh decision but it was dumb of Warsaw to play him for even 2 minutes without making absolutely sure he was eligible. Celtic certainly do not deserve to be in it still, I don't think they'll be in it for long though.

I suspect Van Gaal is going through the process of informing the dead weights they can move on from the club. I agree with you on Vermaelen though, top defender on his day, but 15million is way to much for a player who spends alot of time on the bench. We definitely need an experienced Centreback though, just so the young lads know they have a fight on their hands to get in the starting 11. We don't want them thinking they are guaranteed to start.

He was never bad. In fact, far from it. It's just that Mertesacker and Koscielny as a pair are far better than either with Vermaelen. What Per lacks in speed he more than makes up for in positioning and Koscielny is the dog that does the running for Per.

The invincibles was made up of Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure with Sol being the organiser. Defence is weird, I remember Real Madrid pairing Walter Samuel and Ivan Helguera together (2004? 2005?) and while both were good defenders, they were of the same mould and lacked pace and this was exploited repeatedly.

We've got a team I've never heard of in the EL - that's just how we roll. They're one of the best in Cyprus though, apparently they've had some decent runs in the CL in the not too distant past
