I've got to admit, while I find the idea of a Mata/Rooney swap/+cash deal seductive, Rooney showed his worth tonight, and against Swansea.

Mata played 60+ games last year, then went to the confederations cup, and now has a full season and WC ahead of him in the next 12 months, I think that is the only reason he's not been playing - same reason's Luiz and Cesar have not played much thus far.
