Chelsea weren't too defensive. Hazard lost his man a couple of times and it cost them. That's it really. Munich were the same last night - they switched off and conceded from two set pieces. Neither manager was at fault IMO.
They should've probably put another defender on in that case then!

He played a player who is usually a defender, they must therefore be defending all the time11!11!

Funny how this image almost proves chelsea played equal football to madrid yet people are still on the whole 'bus' hype, it's just how it goes on the night.

er...nobody said he parked the bus?

He started with 6 defenders on the pitch and tried to attack...and failed. It was as if he planned to play anti-football until just before the kick off then tried to make a square peg fit a round hole. He has plenty of attacking options available in the squad (and on the bench) Only when they needed to score at least two goals did he start to change personnel, one of those changes was to swap like for like rather than bringing Oscar on, who was desperately needed last night.

Apart from that is what happened.

Ivanovic (defender)
Cole (defender)
Luiz (defender)
Cahill (defender)
Terry (defender)
Azpilicueta (defender)
Ramires (pretty much a defensive midfielder these days)

So 7 purely defensive players and expecting 2 attacking midfielders and a 3 legged donkey to attack

Yeah, he didn't set up for a 0.0 at all.

Edit, my "talking crap" has made me over 1k this season from £1 bets so I will take my talking crap over your blinkered Chelsea fan nonsense, including a 200/1 win on a Chelsea game.

Implying he tried parked the bus?

Next season I think we'll be more comfortable playing more attackers anyway when Matic is available. (I hope, i've got no doubt Jose will still set up defensively :D)

No, implying he played 6 defenders, set up for a 0.0 then either changed his mind after the team was announced or doesn't have a clue how to beat a team with one of the best defences in Europe...which I doubt.

You don't set up like that and risk conceding a goal which would mean your 6 defenders have to score more, a score draw is as good as a loss.

Or maybe he had forgotten about the away goal rules.

I think he was forced into it after it went 1-1 and he didnt have the players out there to do the job. It was one dimensional we do this get 0-0 or sneak a goal with no plan 2.

I think we've had a very good first season considering our problematic attack, certainly did better than what I thought we might do.

Most teams would kill for that "problematic attack" :)

The Sun are reporting Costa to Chelsea is a done deal, must say after Wednesday I'm quite excited about this - whilst he didnt have a vintage game I saw enough to see he'd fit in perfectly with us - looks like the kind of character we need up front, who'll drive everyone on and give the other players shit if they fuck up - which we've missed since Didier left.

Rumours on Twitter of the Drog coming back as well mind, with him Costa and Lukaku I'll await the Pulis comparisons with not so bated breath.

Still reports of Cavani too, i'd love to see 4-1-3-2 playing Hazard Oscar Willian - Cavani Costa that'd be epic! I think Matic or Luiz in the CDM role could be fine alone.

What were people saying about money buying success?

That it's been the case since the 20's when Woolwich Arsenal became just Arsenal with that shiny new team they were bought?

However money doesn't always get you success. Unless, of course, spending 100m on a Europa League spot is seen as successful these days.......

The bit where he questions his commitment...

Hazard has been outstanding this season (and last) with the added pressure of having nobody in front of him worth bothering with. He has been relied on to win several matches and has always come through.

No midfielder can be expected to perform miracles against one of the best defences in Europe with virtually no support.

He was good at the start of the season but "outstanding" is a bit strong, especially recently. It's only a retort after he moaned about Mourinho's tactics.
