He was never prolific at Athletico Madrid - only at Liverpool under Benitez. And he was improving at Chelsea up until the point Rafa left you (with the only European trophy he could win for you won, and Champion's League qualification in the bag).



Edit: 22 goals in all competitions last season - equalling his second best season at Liverpool.

I never said he was back to his best. I said he improved under Benitez - and he clearly did. His goal return and form for Chelski was much improved last term compared to previous (and improvement is a process, not just "turn up, instant better") and since Benitez has left he's turned to utter turd again.

I'm sure a lot of people can dream up many fanciful excuses but Torres has had brief improvements here and there but all too often he returns back to the crap form we got when he first started. I said Chelsea make a mistake buying him since he had been playing bad under Liverpool for the previous year after returning from injury and didn't look the same, once we did I was willing to give him a couple of years but the fact is he is generally just as bad as when we bought him.
