I posted a while ago with the reasons. We can afford any transfer fee, that's not the problem. Our issue is we don't have the cashflow to sustain 'normal' wages at the level of recent trends. We may have 1,000 in the bank but if we earn 10 and spend 15, there's only so much that 1,000 will last.

In reality it is a risk since you may well fail but it could also reward you with more income but Arsenal have got to the stage where they've become some what risk adverse.

That is my point seeing as we have this "cap" we cant afford to carry players like Arshavin on his £100k a week plus who we could not even loan out. Add to that Denilson Bender Park and Chamack who are all playing for someone else but still allegedly costing us £20k+ a week each and the precious salary cap is wasted. In my opinion giving average players above average long term deals is what is hurting us.

Personally I think the current system sucks, but that is football for you.

I think the difference was Berlusconi was a fan before. Abramobitch had no ties to the Chavs before so it looked more like a rich boy trying a new sport. Rather than Horse Racing he went for football it was easy to think once he had achieved what he wanted he would be off. But spending even more after winning the CL I am not so sure.

I know it wont happen but if FFP did clip the Chavs wings like it should then it would be interesting seeing how he got on when he cant sack and buy who he likes.

Is Frank Lampard regarded as a chav? I've never really thought so. Terry, certainly, he's scum from a long line of scum, but not Lampard. Whether they exercise a malign influence over the Chelsea dressing room is a different matter.

HAHA, yeah sure we have, we have 3 Arsenal season ticket holders (been ticket holders longer than you've probably been alive) in the office and barely any of them have known Chelsea to be called 'the chavs' for any length of time.

Certainly from the evidence of that time when they were playing their home games at Loftus Road; I lived in the Bush at the time about half a mile from the ground, and every other fucking Saturday my street was wall to wall 4x4s.
