Have you guys watched Being: Liverpool? The reason for Shelvey's delusion is probably because of the fact the Brendan Rodgers tells him how great he is every 2 minutes and thats he's the next Gerrard.

Yeah. I think BR has failed to spot that Shelvey's problem isn't one of confidence - it's of a lack of application.

Maybe he's building his self belief up before giving him a massive rollocking. But probably not.

No I said it was a harsh penalty, and I maintain there is a big difference between that handball and one where a player saves the ball on the goal line by moving his hand to the ball. You don't seem to think there is a difference.

Not remotely harsh. If he hadn't jumped into the path of the ball you'd have a point, but he did, so you don't. Not that it matters given how shite Arsenal were yesterday. The real crime was United not putting six past you.

Seeing as the rule mentions intent then I do have a point but this is getting pointless so I will leave it here.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...d-reputation-on-ref-racism-claim-8280549.html

Chelsea feared being accused of a racism cover-up if they failed to report the alleged abuse of John Obi Mikel by referee Mark Clattenburg, it can be revealed today.
The club were placed under pressure when confronted by claims from Mikel and Ramires that Clattenburg had called Mikel a "monkey", and believed that some press reporters were already aware of the incident. They feared that failure to act would leave the club open to the charge that, as with the John Terry incident, they did not take racism allegations seriously
For the first time a detailed picture has emerged of what motivated the club to take the unprecedented decision to go public on the flare-up following last Sunday's Premier League game with Manchester United, and subsequently to report the matter to the FA.
The Independent on Sunday has spoken to a highly placed source at Chelsea, who admits that many of the club's actions were governed by the Terry racism storm. But we can also reveal that:
* Mikel claims to have personally heard Clattenburg call him a monkey. It was previously reported that only Ramires heard the word.
* Chelsea were mindful of FA rule E14 which says a club must report possible misconduct incidents.
* The club also took into account the 2010 Equality Act which imposes a duty of care on employers.
* Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, who is also a lawyer, was centrally involved in all decisions.
* The club may say in their defence that referees sometimes cover their mikes when talking to players.

The only covering is Chelsea and their arse, they know the evidence is slim to nil. Mikey sounds alot like Monkey in a loud stadium and it was loud that day, also they dropped the Spanish twat thing, why?

Also if they were just following the rules why have they done this so publicly. They could of done this without tarnishing him. His career as an elite ref will suffer regardless of the result of the trial.

He could also have called him a cheeky monkey, if he said it at all. Not racist.

Go call a black guy a cheeky monkey, let's see what happens..

FOR SCIENCE.

If he gets upset by it then the science has shown that that particular black guy is a touchy little arsehole.

Indeed, calling someone a cheeky monkey is not referencing race in any way shape or form. It is a common expression widely used in English speaking countries right across the world.

My god daughters nickname is Monkey and I have been chasing her round places and shouted get back her monkey. And the only time it has ever been a issue is with the ultra white over pc bitch who decided to stick up for some random black guy by telling me to be more sensitive. He just replied "Bitch your the racists he aint talking to me". But now i do worry about calling her monkey in public.

Soze, you say the handball isnt deliberate he was merely protecting his face. That there is a contradiction. He intentionally put his hands up there because he knew that was where the ball was and he was too scared of a sore face. That means he deliberately handled the ball.

Protecting your face is not good reason for handling the ball. Simple as. Or you could jump infront and handle the ball and say "oh i was protecting my teammates face, you cant give a penalty" :p

Raise your hands up in the air and handle the ball = penalty. Simple as. I got smashed in the face countless times because i refused to risk a penalty. It one these things that people would have no issues with outside the box but moment it means a penalty they say it is harsh.

You'd think the thing you'd do would be to get your family out, for fear of just that.

Maya Yoshida might be the worst centre back I've ever seen in the premier league
