Our defence is being exposed because we don't have a ball winner infront of them, it's a sad fact and a problem we have had since Hargreaves originally got injured. Until we address that problem we are always going to have days like yesterday. We controlled for long spells but were awful in our own final third and you don't win jack-shit if you concede too many.

Fucking annoys me that does, the salute traces it's origins back at least as far as ancient Rome. Just because the Nazi's hijacked it does not make it a Nazi saulte. People need to read more and get off the lads back.

In Germany the salute, sporadically used by the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) since 1923, was made compulsory within the movement in 1926.[45] Called the Hitler salute (Hitlergruß), it functioned both as an expression of commitment within the party and as a demonstrative statement to the outside world.[46] Yet in spite of this demand for the outward display of obedience, the drive to gain acceptance did not go unchallenged, even within the movement.[46] Early objections focused on its resemblance to the Roman salute employed by Fascist Italy, and hence on it not being Germanic.[46] In response, efforts were made to establish its pedigree and invent a proper tradition after the fact.[46]
The compulsory use of the Hitler salute for all public employees followed a directive issued by Reich Minister of the Interior Wilhelm Frick on July 13, 1933, one day before the ban on all non-Nazi parties.[47] The Wehrmacht refused to adopt the Hitler salute and was able for a time to maintain its own customs.[48] The military were required to use the Hitler salute only while singing the Horst Wessel Lied and German national anthem, and in non-military encounters such as greeting members of the civilian government.[48] Only after the July 20 Plot in 1944 were the military forces of the Third Reich ordered to replace the standard military salute with the Hitler salute.[4

The Nazi salute is a slightly modified version of the Roman salute but it started out identically and then was 'altered' a little to become more Germanic. It's a fucking salute though, it means nothing other than as a welcome and sign of respect. It annoys me that people seem to be more offended by it than the use of racial names, stereotypes and outright prejudice. It's a hand movement with origins going back over 2000 years, people need to get over it unless the guy throwing it is openly facist in which case he just made a laughing stock of himself anyway.

As always, context is everything, just like use of a swastika emblem.

First thoughts were a dirt off your shoulder type thing. But it does look dodgey as fuck. I think we will get a explanation soon though on Arsenal.com as they won't like that 90% of people call it a Nazi salute.

Fucking hell Sunderland are unambitious. To be outshot as a team by an INDIVIDUAL is a pathetic indictment of the complete lack of ambition shown by Mo'N.
