Wtf. We were said to have signed buttner a month ago.
There was some sort of clause that someone didn't like regarding percentages of transfer fees, apparently.

Alot of rumours about United taking Kaka on loan as well, seems the bookies have odds on it?

Lee Martins Winner says:
If Kaka comes then jesus we are going to be playing “we will score more than you do” fooball.. still exciting thought… kaka to nani, nani to kagawa… run, plays a ball to RVP, out wide to valancia who crosses, RVP left foot volley, 7-5 united!

unless the rules changed yet again.. that wouldnt be a pass back anyways. He didnt need to use his foot because originally the rule allowed the keeper to pick up a pass from their own team on the condition it was actually passed forwards (towards the opposition.).... afteral you cant pass back when you passing forward!

...
As for this match. Great start by chelsea but shame it seems they decided the first 10minutes was enough and are now playing like a lesser team and parking the bus :)

Ah mate I didn't mean it as a pass back as in breaking the rules, haha, just me being lazy/not thinking as I reply!

I can't decide if Kaka on loan is a good thing or not. He's not what he was but he's still an asset (I'll never forget watching him eviscerate us in the CL semi-final in 2007), but is it just kicking the fundamental midfield problem down the road for another season?

A few places are suggesting that RVP is just a plan to get Ferguson the title this year so he can retire on top. The over the top fee suggests this could be true IMO £70m for the transfer and 4 years of wages for a player who is 29 and injury prone seems like a gamble. BUT if he gets his 30 goals this year Man U will win the title and then he can retire on top. That must be the worrying time for Utd fans you lose a strong manager like him and get some puppet in his place.

I never believe Fergy retirement rumours even if he personally declares them since they've not materialised, as for the puppet factor I kind of think that would be just too risky for even the Glazers family to risk being that stupid.

Ferguson has to retire sometime though, he isn't exactly young any more. I reckon that if UTD win the premiership this season he will retire. Their years of dominance are pretty much over, he will probably go out on a high.

It's a good thing in so far as Anderson is not reliable, Scholes is too old to play every game and Cleverly is still somewhat unproven. Kaka did well last season and I think he would offer us a slightly different way of playing but yes it is still a sticking plaster on a nasty wound. Sooner or later we have to buy two top class central midfielders, Schweinsteiger and Sneijder would have been my picks or maybe Martinez.

Sunderland were so defensive on Saturday that in the second half Szczesny didn't touch the ball with his hands: he only touched it twice. Once to clear a passback, and once to take a goal kick. They didn't have a shot in the second half either.

Technically it worked for them since they came away from a point.

Indeed it did.

But it's incredibly rare the opposition team don't even attempt a shot in half a game of football. Especially against a team with a weak defence and no real holding midfielder. They could have easily have got at us if they tried, and probably scored. They were more ambitious in the first 5 minutes of the game than in the remaining 85 minutes.

No, I *always* moan about teams that don't try and play football. :) My sunday league team (we're appalling) attack more than that and we finished bottom of the league last season by some way. And we can barely string a few passes together. It saddens me when I see professional footballers, all very competent at playing the game of football being ordered to do everything against their natural instincts. Football's a game to be enjoyed by all - how can neutrals, and those for and against ever ENJOY a game of football if one team decides they aren't even going to have a shot!?

And yeahy for tonights game where it seems we will have Calamity Carrick playing at Centre back. Should give Everton a good chance of a result. Hopefully the front line is on fire as can see it being a "we score more then you" type game. lol
