How can people say Giroud hasn't looked good. In his first season he's scored goals and changed games with his aerial threat and direct approach. He's exactly what arsenal have needed in their squad as a plan B!!

I like the guy and I'm looking forward to seeing him next season.

Torres scored more goals this season

He also cost more than 4 times as much. His goal to game ratio is worse than Giroud.

2013 stats
Torres a goal every 2.82 games 65 appearances 23 goals
Giroud a goal every 2.68 games 51 appearances 19 goals

...according to soccerbase.

I don't think you realised I was trolling, I thought the silly picture gave it away.

Wenger was on Al Jazeera talking about possible signings and mentioned both Fabregas and Rooney.

When you crosses come into the box and your main striker is back peddling out of it, it raises some questions. He's not a bad player, he can hold the ball and is physically strong. He should do better given his skill etc. Problem is that he does not use his physical presence enough. Arsenal can do better than Giroud imho.

I doubt they would pay for either really, I know they have the money but it goes against their entire philosophy. If the likes of Torres are worth 50 million then Rooney is worth at least that. (Yes, I know Liverpool shafted Chelsea hard on that deal)

I think if UTD do offload him it will be for a good sum of money and that is a big if, I can't see him leaving really, certainly not until the end of next season. Fabrigas could be a goer though but would they be willing to pay his fee plus wage demands? If not then UTD might be circling for him.

Maybe they just looked at his ridiculous stats in Fifa and thought, "why not?".

He was awful last season and suffers from appalling homesickness (and that's when in spain!).

Arsenal will never sign Rooney. I don't think it's a coincidence that Rooney's agent has started the "I want to leave" bollocks as new management is coming in. He wants a contract extension.

I agree if Wenger was going to pay anyone £250k a week it would have been RVP. Rooney is not a Wenger type player at all and will likely cost £30m plus £250k a week. I will hope that this is bollocks.

Talk is cheap, as proven many times by Wenger/Arsenal.
Cesc could be real as the talk is still that it is a season long loan deal as Barce do not want to sell him but he wants to play. So a loan is good for both. And we get Cesc back for a year.

What a delightful man Paul Stretford is. It also says a lot about Wayne Rooney that he's kept him as his agent over the years.

Wenger probably couldn't pay RVP 250K a week a year ago; now the TV deal is ratified and the stadium finances are sorted, he could - bad timing (although I think RVP would still have gone anyway).

Just can't see Arsenal doing that. They have kept a tight reign on wages and still managed competed. Agreed they probably should do it in order to get silverware. Just can't see them jumping from 120k to 220k for the likes of Rooney. Every other Arsenal player/agent will be asking for more. Will do more harm than good.

The new deal would of made it easier but the fact we are on track to make a profit again this year would say if Wenger wanted too £250k would of been available for RVP.

Seeing Man Utd fans furiously masturbating because they're convinced Ronaldo return is a done deal, anyone heard anything?

Moyes would be mad trying to get an ego like Ronaldo into the club in his first year.

Its a rumour that won't go away though. I even read it in the financial press in relation to the Chevrolet sponsorship deal. It would be great to have him back, but I still think a couple of world class midfielders would be money better spent (on the pitch rather than the sponsor's powerpoint presentations)

I want it to be true because it would then mean Bale is leaving Spuds and that would make me happy :)

I heard a while back that Chevi were keen to get him back, it would add huge value from Asia to their sponsorship deal.

I doubt it will be this season/next though, probably the 2014/15 season, which is also when Bale is likely to be going to Madrid.
