Doh, you dick.

Of course I meant that McLeish is doing better in terms of points at the start of his term as Villa manager than O'Neill did at the start of his term as Villa manager.

O'Neill took over a team that had nearly been relegated the season before and was one of the favourites for relegation that season. He ended up five places higher and with eight more points than the previous season, with only one of his own signings in place before the league kicked off as he was appointed on the 4th August.

McLeish took over a team that had finished ninth. Yes the clueless owner sold off Young and Downing and replaced them with Charles Insomnia, but there was still sufficient quality in the side to win games. The fans won't stand for the utter shit on display. We know its not just the manager, it is the owner too. Both useless, and both should hang their heads in shame.

O'Neill inherited a god awful team. Mcleish has/had a solid Villa side to begin with.

You have shed over 20 million pounds worth of players Net this season plus a number on free transfers to reduce the wages bill. You just played the top team in the premiership and you only lost 1-0 - if he had played more offensively I imagine you'd be on here complaining how he should have been more defensive when you lost 5-0.

Look at this: http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/aston-villa-transfers.html

You have gone from spending over 45 million net on players (which was clearly unsustainable) 3 seasons ago to profiting by 20 million from transfers this season. It may not be attractive but you are still a tough team to breakdown and that will keep you up.

So who is the bad guy - well even your owner's not actually harming the club by trying to get it on a more stable footing - your unlikely to end up doing a portsmouth into administration for instance. The real bad guy is the unsustainably high spending by other clubs - maybe Fifa will tackle that someday.

According to 5-live this evening McLeish has more points right now than O'Neill did after the same number of games.

I think it's the believer in you coming out which is making you avoid the facts that undermine your argument ;)

Sorry Scouse, for once I'm completely with Turamber on something; McLeish's lack of ambition is nauseating. City weren't actually that good yesterday but Villa flattered them thanks to their manager's negativity (personally I wouldn't dignify it with the word "negativity", "cowardice" would seem more appropriate). If I was a Villa fan I'd be feeling pretty fucking depressed right now.

He even had the audacity to come out after the match and say they were unlucky not to get something out of the game :p

Indeed, they showed a bit of spirit in the last 5 minutes but other than it was dreadfully unadventurous on their part. As the commentator said, they would "die without knowing"; they could've caused a pretty flat City side some problems if they had just fucking tried.

Or they could have lost 5-0 - everyone's wise after the fact it seems.

Did you watch the game? The number of times there was a Villa throw-in or movement down the wing and there was literally no-one forward of the halfway line was just embarrasing. Its fine to play a defensive game and hope to counter on the break, but the key part of that is "counter". Until the last five minutes or so the default pass for pretty much every Villa player was backwards. Sometimes its worth remembering the 30-40 thousand people paying to see some entertainment.

Wolve sack Mick McCarthy.

Warnock in?

Couldnt they wait till the end of the season? Not many candidates around at the moment to choose from.

I think Wolves will almost certainly end up in the championship this year so who would want to jump onto that Titanic?

Bad timing with the England Job being out there anyone with a sniff of England will not take Wolves now. Also the chance of the Spuds job being there too.

Would they have preferred to see their team do a Wolves? Lets be honest now - Aston Villa wouldnt have much chance against the Man City subs let alone the first team.

The manager was playing the percentages and hoping for a miracle which seems sensible in the circumstances.

I'm kind of hoping the Venn diagram of "potential Wolves managers" and "potential England managers" doesn't overlap much, or at all.

Exactly and there could be the Aston Villa job shortly.

You say that, but Citeh didn't look all that yesterday. They were there for the taking, but McLeish doesn't do plan "B" it seems. One thing this season has taught is that having a go seems to be a better way of dealing with the big teams than sitting back, and as I said, sitting back is OK, but playing for a draw on your own ground is a pretty supine way to play football.

Just because they are not on England's Radar does not mean they know they are not on England's Radar.

Also theres a shuffling effect - say Harry takes the England job - they then need a Spurs manager from X - then X grabs a Manager from Y etc. etc.

Timing is shit, should have been done in December.

As for who is out, please, use your common sense before the blinkers come on. We can easily raid a good manager from the lower leagues. Lee Clark for example. We have 2 weeks before our next match, plenty of time to bring confidence back to the players and make a push for survival.

On Mick, was never his greatest fan but he has given us our best period in recent history, however his should have gone sooner as he reputation will forever be tarnished with yesterday result. Cheers anyways and best of luck, but you are not a Premier League manager.

The Spanish Waiter is the odds on favourite.. ?!
