But the Ken Dodd defence of playing on your popularity and pretending to be pig shit thick worked on the jury. I doubt 'arry's Accountants liked the shit he was flinging their way, the unpleasant red faced wanker.

I'm sure the horrifically inept prosecution who relied on a tabloid journalist and a taped conversation that nearly didn't make it into the case had absolutely nothing to do with it. I'm not defending what Harry and Mandaric did as there was clearly something not right about it, but if the case was there and with 5 years to build it I don't really think you are looking at it from the right angle..

The defences job is to break down the prosecution's brick wall and when that wall is made of tissue paper it's not that hard.

But hey, don't let actual facts get in the way of a good pointless rant.

Oh they dropped the ball for sure, it was also terrible timing having the News of the World's dirty linen aired at the same time, something the jurors couldn't fail to have heard about.

But, for the record, we have learned that Redknapp is illiterate, doesn't know the difference between a loan and a bonus, lies to the press and thinks he pays 'too much' tax. He may have gotten off but his reputation will be forever sullied.

Personally I've never rated Fabio Capello that highly, but then having said that I don't see the real good candidates going for this job since I doubt they could ever work with the FA that well.

This to me doesn't matter because quite frankly no matter what happens the current England team is fairly shit, I view them as talking like Winston Churchill but playing like Neville Chamberlain.

Whoever comes in I would prefer they clean house and start pushing forward more of the younger team, I can handle the losses while developing them but I find it hard to swallow when the current generation look so shambolic and lose.

blimey wasn't expecting that. FA are screwed now though, theres no way Harry will ditch Spurs at this stage of the season, well imo anyway, so who will they parachute in as an emergency?

Can understand Capello's decision completely tbh, he's the manager, he picks the captain, he picks the squad. For the FA to make that decision with no consultation is unforgivable naive and amateur. If they wanted to do this it should have happened as soon as the police investigation was announced, and he should have been dropped for the squad as well as having captaincy removed.

Bunch of idiots.

Any ex England managers currently kicking their heels on the beaches of the costa brava at the mo, erikson, mcclaren? erk.

Stuart Pearce will probably get the job on an interim basis, I can see Harry taking over at the end of the season in time for the Euros and perhaps have some input into the friendlies before then.

That's basically what Capello has been doing for the last two years (World cup aside)

And, if he takes the England managers job, everytime he loses or fails to thrash a team of perceived minnows.

shouldnt be a problem then, the tabloids said all our problems were caused by foreign managers, with an english one we'll win every game 6-0 against johnny foreigner, lampard and gerrard will be the worlds best midfield duo "again" and all will be right in the world.

Fabio was bad for the team his formations and the teams he picked were crap. He was too stuck in his ways and that hurt England. Unless the new manager isa big name they will be bullied into picking the same names game after game playing in a formation that does not suite the team. I would like someone who plays like Wenger or Martinez get the job. A manager who is not scared to play kids.

Unless they rip out the old team, including Terry but also Gerrard and Lampard then England will continue to be utterly shit. Most over-rated wankers in the history of the game.

I really, really cannot see Harry taking the job whilst the shower of shit that is our FA continue to ruin every chance we have of improving or succeeding. Also, the timing is all wrong now, mid-season, we'll never get a top name long term right now.

Kudos to Capello for leaving the FA with massive amounts of egg on their faces. He's not been great for us, but the teams improved in terms of selection since the abysmal world cup.

FA board need to all resign (again).

Good on Capello, the FA are a real joke. I agree with sentiment in this thread that both Pearce an Redknapp are bad choices, but there isn't too much out there at the moment. I'd definitely be knocking on Mourinhos door though.

I think it's interesting to hear their opinions tbh, they used to be able to express them selves through the press, but they can't trust journalists these days....

Harry would be a decent long term choice after this season potentially, but only with a very very strong back room team. Ideally we'd need a manager who could oversee 5 years of overhaul including looking hard at our youth players. The problem is, those managers are at top clubs and are going nowhere. (Fergie, Wenger, Pep).

At this rate we'll end up with the sodding Fact Waiter :(

What would make 'Arry good? I'm geniunely intrigued as he has zero track record at international level and has given zero indication that he'd do anything other then play the old guard? He's a wheeler dealer and has built up a bent reputation off the back of it. Never mind, either way this goes it'll come up smelling of roses for him.

exactly everz. redknapp has done well at spurs where basically everything was in place for him, and won an FA cup at pompey where he was given a huge amount of money that the club didnt have... there is absolutely nothing to suggest he would be a good england boss other than he is the englishman with the highest league position. Hiddink or Mourinho.

Wenger would get rid of the old guard. We still wouldn't win but at least we'd have new faces not winning :)

Jose Mourinho would be epic. Can't see it happening though.

I don't really care who comes in TBH. International managers have far fewer responsibilities than club managers. Even if we had the likes of Mourinho in charge, all it takes is for one player to get sent off early or bottle a penalty and we are out of the tournament.

When asked about Wayne Rooney's tweet on Capello's resignation and the next England coach, Roy Keane says: "Wayne should keep his nose out it."
