I don't worry about it? I just want to see justice served? Don't see what's so hard to understand about that?

People should pay their taxes.

Justice has been served, he's been found innocent. Deal with it.

Found innocent != innocent.

You do know that, don't you? It's worth bringing up again that the legal team that got him off are the same people that got Gerrard's unprovoked, video and witness-led evidence trial found innocent too.

So if you were earning say £60m a year, would you pay every single bit of tax asked of you?

To be fair yes, cos £30 million is stil 27,990,000 more than i'll be getting this year :)
My point is I don't agree with tax evasion, but nor do I give a shit about it. At the end of the day he's been tried and aquitted, if the system is that shit that it can be bypassed so easily then it deserves to be bent over and anally raped from time to time.

Why wouldn't I? I'd still be earning £30m p/a. Not sure how you can ever claim that wouldn't be enough, or that you're hard done by.

Not understanding the not giving a shit either. Tax evasion is normally done by the super rich, who have to pay large taxes. If they don't, that's less money in the public kitty and less money that goes on services etc. Keeps money out of our economy, keeps our services and cuts to a lower standard than we all want them to be. Not sure how someone can complain about government cuts but not care about the billions in evaded tax? Stinks of hypocrisy.

It's a little bit of work to save millions of pounds a year.. I don't agree with it but it seems so easy to do that why wouldn't you :p

I don't complain about goverment cuts either to be fair. I'm of the theory that you only get out of life what you take from it. I personally think that instead of cutting enducation and health care they should just cut benifits and let the lazy fuckers die in there own filth but that's definatly for another thread :)

The fact every one is so Happy to bend our government over because its a loophole and because its easy is one of the reasons the place is fucking broke. People with a £10m lottery win still claiming disability and a car because he is entitled, it is still wrong and the government could really do with getting serious.

We just spent an estimated 5 million on the police investigation alone not including court costs to go after a man for a few tens of thousands when he already paid millions in tax - is that a good use of our money? They could have just fined him - then everyones a winner.

So we shouldn't try and prosecute people who evade tax? We should just say "hey, have a fine!"

How is that a deterrant for the rich trying to avoid taxes? A fine means nothing, potential prison means a lot more.

I bet he's already paid more in tax than you will even earn in your life time. that's a fairly big contrabution. Also if he's in jail he won't be earning any money, so he won't be paying tax, and he'll be costing the tax payers to keep him......

So economically it would be redundent.

Ridiculous.

If he earned ten billion pounds and only payed ten million pounds would that be OK then? After all - it's more than anyone here'll earn in our lifetimes.

Tosh. He should pay the same proportion of income as anyone else.

Also, if he's in jail then Tottenham will employ another manager to fill his boots - and he'll pay taxes.

Intellectually, you're redundant :)

In a case where we clearly couldnt prove beyond reasonable doubt an intention to defraud then yes - a fine is the answer.

Yeah but I think he also caused himself some issues with having to pick another captain.

Must have been to do with the Terry thing! At least we have an excuse for when we bomb out of the Euros in the group stages.

He didn't cause himself any issues.

He was asked a question, he responded. At no point did he actually criticise the FA, or say Terry's still captain in his eyes. He only said that he would have personally kept JT as captain until the outcome, but understood that it was an issue that the FA had to deal with. So all he did was make a placid disagreement with no criticism. The only thing he did wrong was not getting HR/PR's consent before giving the interview, AFAIK.

Sorry but the implication is there whether you agree with it or not, considering his employer as well just made it worse....... as is having a personal opinion when related to the FA.

There was something very dodgy going on with 'arry, that is for certain. But the Ken Dodd defence of playing on your popularity and pretending to be pig shit thick worked on the jury. I doubt 'arry's Accountants liked the shit he was flinging their way, the unpleasant red faced wanker.

Edit: Just saw the Capello news. That's a shocker, but I don't blame him for giving two fingers to the gutless dipsticks at the FA. Please take McLeish, please, please, please.
