Nobody seemed bothered about Suarez being "convicted" on an accusation with not enough evidence to even get to a proper court, so why the defence of Terry?

The accusations against him are actually serious enough to get him into a real court, not just an FA hearing...

From the footage it is impossible to see what exactly he said, afaik Anton Ferdinand did not request charges and neither did anyone else on the pitch. TV viewers, most of whom only saw the story on the news second hand complained about it. Much like the Jeremy Clarkson witch hunt.

And if you deny that, I'll let you know that I had no idea what he said, watched the footage, saw him say "fucking black cunt" and then checked what he was supposed to say after watching. And lo and behold! I was right.

Cut-and-dried. But he'll probably get off in court because they require a higher level of evidence than at an FA hearing.

The video I've seen is of him saying "you fucking black cunt [pause] fucking nob head". Not "...you A fucking black cunt" - just "you fucking black cunt"...

Also - if Anton was "happy" with it why's he not come out and said "don't take him to court" or shaken his hand before the next game? It seems like he's demonstrably un-happy about something.

I take very little notice of what others say on these sort of issues, especially Liverpool fans. I'll do my normal and wait until something is proven at the FA level or criminal level.

As for England, for many years it has been nothing more than a Walcott academy of over rated player failures.....as it will be in Euro 2012.

The CPS wouldn't persue the case unless Anton Ferdinand was willing to line up as a witness for the prosecution. If Anton refused to give evidence then there wouldn't be a problem. But he is, and he refused to shake his hand at the last game.

Anton feels he's been racially abused by Terry. Just like Evra did by Suarez.

How can this be simply a "media shitstorm" yet the Suarez case be serious?

theoretically then they could find him guilty, give him his £2500 fine (the maximum penalty) and he would face no ban for any games, because the FA cant take further action once a higher power has already applied a penalty.

would set a strange precedent tbh, if a player is taken to an FA hearing over racism wouldnt it make more sense for the player to demand a criminal hearing as the punishment would be less severe? (£2500 is about 15 minutes pay for Terry?)

From what I understood from the beginning was that this whole thing was whipped up by the media and Anton Ferdinand has actually never come out and said Terry said anything out of line to him at all. Feels like he just got caught up in the media frenzy and decided to go along with it to in all honesty.

Goalies are captain all the time. There are no stand out candidates for england and hart seems like a decent enough blokw, knows how to shout a lot and is a great keeper.

The widespread condemnation of Suarez is because he was found guilty. I empathise over the issue that it was something of a semantic problem than outright racism as far as Suarez saw it, but with his track record - and, let's be honest, if this was another player than JT with his track record, would it have even gone to court? - people were understandably quick to judge. However, given we know exactly what happened more or less with Suarez, you really can't compare the two cases as it stands as there's no concrete evidence for anything in the JT case. Also seeing a video, unless you're an expert lip-reader, doesn't really count as concrete evidence at this juncture given anything taken out of context can mean something completely different. Even if he did say "you fucking black cunt" to Ferdinand, what's to say he didn't prefix that with "do you really think I am stupid enough to call you a..."?

The whole thing, in both cases, is just pathetic and ridiculous that it can even be a possibility of happening in the 21st century really, but them's the breaks.

Really? Not being partisan here but Gerrards been captain of Liverpool for donkeys years and in that time won UEFA cups, Champions League, Super, League & FA Cups. Basically everything that's winnable but the league.

If that's not a stand-out candidate I don't know what is.
