Lol, Lawrenson probably didn't even watch the game then... or that's fake.. idk.. simply ridiculous to say though as we were decent till half time and we still had a chance to win the match.

He said it on 5 Live since he was the commentator, in essence Man C didn't have to really play that well to be where they were since LP were kind of below average.

City weren't at there best and you offered nothing. You looked like an average side against a good side off form. You had some okay possession in midfield, but had no answers to get past the questions their defenders asked. Until Gerrard and Bellamy came on you looked mid table at best.

can only agree with what ch3t said really, Liverpool never looked like scoring. Pretty routine win for man city really, at a time when theyve been looking a bit rocky

We played ok, not amazing, but around / just a bit above average... we just made 3 silly mistakes (penalty was 50/50) to concede all 3 goals sadly :(

Stupid scoring problems :D

Simon Walker on Twitter: "Win against Everton by 17 goals next week and Spurs go 2nd!!!!"

Only if Man United lose to Newcastle tomorrow - the Sky Sports commentator made the same mistake. We do have a game in hand (vs Everton next week) however Man United are currently level on games with us and have 3 more points

We won't win tomorrow, Sunderland are on good form, only one Tyne and Wear team is allowed that at any given time.

Can't rely on bloody scousers for anything.

More posession, more shots on and off target, more corners and less fouls.

No fucking goals tho. And I agree - we didn't often look like we were going to score. Need a striker and a pacey winger quite urgently :(

Edit: No shame in losing to the eventual champions tho ;)

Yupp, it's hard to compete with passengers such as Downing and Carroll atm :(

I still don't think Carroll is your only problem as Luis was hardly scoring for fun. Adam and Downing could cross a ball fine before going to you. With Carroll in the middle you should be crossing from the wings not lumping it to him down the middle of the park.

Why does it only seem to be with Chelsea that we hear about "dressing room unrest". I guess that's what you get when you are known for having a trigger-happy owner...

And agree JingleBells, it's slightly confusing when looking at just the table (both teams on 19 games) but after we play on Wednesday it will all be equal again. Silly rioters messing the numbers up.

"Man City too good for Liverpool"

I mean honestly who writes these headlines.. probably just saw the score and wrote a stupid headline to go with it.

Well let's see, everyone here agrees with the Beeb, the only person who seems to have seen this bizarre game were you were the better team is.... you.

Goalkeeper; yep Hart better by far.

Defence; yep 0 goals conceded, restricted you to poor chances, yep Man City better by far.

Midfield; less possession, but Yaya and Silva did far more than Adam and Downing and Spearing. It's about quality of possession, not quantity.

Attack; hah! 3 goals, the potential for at least 6 had Dzeko not been so wasteful and the post not saved you from A Johnson. Carroll on the other hand was isolated, outnumbered, and did not know where his team mates were going to put the ball. You couldn't break down the man city back 4.

Seems like a spot on headline to me. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND.

Adam is not Gerrard, you have no pace on the wings, you have no creativity upfront without Suarez. Your defence is ok, nothing special. You have no spine to your team that is worthy of a top 4 finish, better get spending.

36 goals in the starting 11 of City last night vs Liverpool's 8, I think that sums it up tbh :p

The teams were very even, at times we dominated them... and yes it is about quality of possession but were hardly too good for us.. we gifted them 3 goals ... and we could have also scored a few by the way so that's bullshit ;)

You just disagree with me to disagree with me ;)

Even Scouse said something similar to what I said :p we were just wasteful as shit and made a few too many mistakes... and really, we have the quality in our squad to break in to the top 4/5 when Carroll and Suarez start scoring.. I think Gerrard being back will help Suarez a lot when he's unbanned... and again with no Lucas I'm surprised we didn't get ripped last night....

And we have pace on the wings when Downing and Bellamy both play.. and Gerrard at the same time..... we still need a new right winger though if we want to actually challenge the top 3/4..

But losing to the eventual champions at their home ground isn't that big of a deal I guess :) could have been much worse ;) <---

Man Utd looked league 2 when they lost 6-1 then :p

The difference is that UTD don't perform like that week in week out. Lollerpool however do.

Ye and depending on the next round of matches we could be 4th if we are really lucky :D

After Man Utds last game when they looked like Doncaster... tonight will be good :)

If we performed like that every week minus the mistakes and we threw in Gerrard / Bellamy as starters then we would be 5th at least..

When Man City have the best defensive player in the Prem right now (Kompany) and Joe Hart in goal it's pretty hard to score with an out of confidence player like Carroll :)

Tbh I think Liverpool have relied on Gerrard (and when they had him Torres) for many many seasons. Without them previously you would have barely made top 10 tbh (how many tiimes did they save your ass with a few minutes left in the game). The rest of your squad was weak bar Alonso but he is long gone. I see it as a lifeline that Kenny came in and sorta revived the club, made a good signing in Suarez, but I can see nothing but a grim future for Liverpool, especially if you lose Kenny. Yea you will turn middle teams over week in week out, but I can't see you getting higher than 5-4th

Jeez Keitanz. We're an average side right now tbfh. We haven't spent a billion quid like city's owners and we're not redeveloping a title winning squad with big-money signings like rednose.

We need a quality striker and a quality winger. I think we're OK everywhere else.

Yeah we are an average side.. we won't break in to the top 4/5 without a lot of investment.. but really why would we get a quality striker... dunno where he would fit in.. but I agree with a quality winger :)

I still don't understand why we paid 20m for Henderson.. him and Carroll are probably long term investments so I dunno if they will be sold for ages.

He would fit in that Striker role that's been absent since Suarez's ban. You know, the man supposedly responsible for scoring goals and bringing others into play.

£20m for Henderson was one of the worst pieces of business I've ever seen, astonishingly bad value.
