It was a yellow card.
I never said it was not but calling him a nasty nasty man for doing something every manager has done and will do again this season is way over the top.

You're forgetting that to Man U fans Fergie is always the epitome of grace and Wenger is like Hitler or something. :)

Personally I think its the worst thing about football - a messed up sending off can really ruin a game.

Or not sending off as in our case last night, as neither Cole or Lampard should have been on the pitch.

Whereas a beachball scoring can be piss funny for everyone. Or a hand of god from some dodgy argentinian coke snorter can give the whole world something to talk about for twenty years.

Lets face it - we all hate being on the wrong side of those decisions - but if Man U are on the end of one we like it - and if our team gets a decision, deep down we enjoy it.

When you take the human out of the game you lose something vital and energising. The rest of the world knows this - but not in England. In England football is a business first. It costs millionaire owners cold hard cash when decisions don't go their way. The TV companies would love video refereeing 'cause they'll get even more power than they already have.

That's why you'll find the only country heavily in favour of video refs is the UK. And they've been working on us for years to get us to feel that way.

Man's game. I.E. Played for and refereed by fallable humans with all the lovely unfairness that goes with it. :)

I have just watched it again and the first one was a yellow 100% the second one i would question how much contact there was I think Bobby earned that free kick. But letter of the law if he calls it a foul its a booking. So IMO the ref fell for it and turned us down a penalty I assume because Gervinho made too much of it.

Djourou shouldn't have even been on the pitch to foul Zamora - about 5 minutes earlier he absolutely clattered Kerim Frei and didn't even get booked even with the ref playing advantage - I think he saw who it was and didn't want to send him off.

I'd like to see a better replay of the Gervinho foul by Senderos - Shearer on MOTD just went on about him not shooting but it probably was a penalty

It would be weird but how much time would need to be wasted for Video Refs.

Booking's, sending's off and penalties could all be done while the game is in play. Player goes down ref says no penalty play carries on. 4th Official re watches and decides its a penalty. At the next break in play the ref take it back and awards a penalty, announcement over the PA explains its for an earlier incident. Same for a sending off the player leaves the pitch 4th official takes the card back and at the next break of play he is back on. Or if the ref missed it at the next break of play the ref sends him off. It would be crazy to watch but its would not slow down the flow of the game.

Cant really comment on that I have only seen the 12 minute highlights so far. But Gerviniho could of shot and he did go down to easily, but as discussed on here before that is just part of football now. With his erratic shooting putting the ball on the spot for RVP really was his best option ;)

Not really sure he went down too easily - play football, cut inside someone and have them kick the foot. There's fuck all you can do about it, you just end up collapsing.

Djourou bought it on himself, he did enough for the first and did enough for the second and even worse in a stupid place.

He was last seen playing 79 minutes against Arsenal in their Carling Cup victory on Nov 29th, he's registered to play in the league but hasn't appeared

Oh dear Defoe:

1949: Spurs have already forced five corners in an intense start but West Brom are standing strong at the back. Jermain Defoe is sporting a blonde crewcut tonight by the way. Very Demolition Man.

the jokes on the beeb keep coming:

Tottenham goal: If there is such a thing as a textbook Jermain Defoe strike, this is it. Rafael van der Vaart plays the ball to Gareth Bale on the left and his cross is taken in by Defoe with his back to goal. He has four men on him but somehow manages to create enough space to find a shot into the bottom corner. The Demolition Man indeed.

The later the match went on, we always went through the middle... we have Carroll ffs why not cross..

Ch3tan you were right by the way about the point gap :p

Simon Walker on Twitter: "Win against Everton by 17 goals next week and Spurs go 2nd!!!!"

lol :(

And I dunno how much faith I put in Lawrenson's judgement but he said this at halftime...

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson on BBC 5 live: "It's far, far, too easy for City because they haven't had to play that well. Liverpool haven't even been ordinary."

Lol, Lawrenson probably didn't even watch the game then... or that's fake.. idk.. simply ridiculous to say though as we were decent till half time and we still had a chance to win the match.
