It's an interesting discussion. In a lot a ways I agree with you so maybe what I'm doing here is trying to offer a possible justification of using phrases such as that one. A lot of it comes from lazy journalism too. Why bother coming up with a new metaphor or even describing things simply when you already have some that "fit"?That's a fair point. I'm not trying to make things cut or dry or black and white, I'd just rather bullshit phrases that don't actually mean anything were avoided, as all it does is cause grounds for miscommunication (due to the subjectivity of such phrases). Why use them when you can actually say what you mean and everyone will 'get it'?![]()
