poor Jordan henderson

Poor my arse.

The fact is, when he's been played in the middle of the park he's been about as effective as he was on the right.

I know a few sunderland fans who thought "shit" when we had our initial £13m bid turned down...

He passes sideways or backwards. Never forwards. He doesn't show what he's capable of and doesn't try to make things happen.

Maybe it's a confidence issue - but he's getting played ahead of better, more productive players - so if that doesn't show him that Kenny trusts him then I don't know what will...

Why the fuck do you spend £35mil on a player like Carrol then?

/sigh. OK. One. Last. Time.

Carroll was a special case: Whilst negotiating a price for Torres, Chelski was told "Liverpool want Andy Carroll plus £15m".

Therefore if Newcastle had told us Andy Carroll was 1 million then Torres would have been sold for £16m. If Newcastle had told us Carroll was £100m then Torres would have been sold for £115m.

The money went (effectively) straight from Chelski to Newcastle. We certainly would never have met that valuation of Carroll if Chelski wasn't paying.

We got our Carroll + £15m. Chelski got a dud and paid most of our transfer fee for Suarez in the process.

Good bit of business tbfh.

Hendo, on the other hand

You can dress it up however you like but at the end of the day it cost you £35m to bring Carroll to your club. In no sense is that a good bit of business tbfh. :)

I'm with Scouse on the Torres/Carrolll tansfer, the fee was all dependant on how much Newcastle wanted for AC, Liverpool in effect swapped AC and Suarez for a total spend of about 7 million of their own cash + Torres. I think that's a bargain!

You bought him, because he has a decent eye for a pass, a very good engine and hes young. The ideal lobg term replacement for Gerard apart from the fact Henderson isn't a cunt ;)

Shelvey is the replacement for Gerrard :)

And he is a cunt. :)

With Carrlol if he gets 20 goals next season at his age £35m will be considered a bargain because of his passport. It was a lot of money and a gamble sure but it is too early to say it has not paid off.

The bigging up of Fletcher has begun. Going to be a sad day when he leaves but he is set for bigger things then Wolves.

Would do an excellent job at any of Spurs/Liverpool.. or even Arsenal when RvP leaves after the Euros.

Parker, wrong choice. Should be Hart. If you are going to pick an older boy why not Gerrard?

goalkeeper as captain is pointless tbh...... that said I'd have Gerrard ahead of Parker, that appointment makes no sense, he's only recently part of the England set up, and it's not like he's young......

Bring Owen back into the squad and captain him up xD

Only thing i can think of is that gerrard wont play. Why is keeper captain pointless?

It's only for one game. If he picked someone like Gerrard it would have seemed permanent making it impossible for the next manager to name anyone else.

I'm quite happy with Parker tbh. It doesn't really make much difference. It seems like you just need someone who isn't going to create a media shitstorm.

Cos a goal keeper can't rush out and speak to the ref regarding players etc, which is what the captain is supposed to do. tho I'm sure it makes no diff in reality as hart would be in goal and the other 10 players would all take his place and croud the ref as per usual....

I know lots of teams that do use and have used keepers as captains but I would prefer it to be an outfield player. The captain's role doesn't seem to be as important as it once was but someone out in midfield can communicate with everyone (inc. the ref when only the captain is allowed to approach and have a moan) more easily than the keeper imo. The keeper has to have natural authority anyway for organising defence for set-pieces etc.

I just hope we switch to 4-4-2 with Huntelaar and van Persie playing together.

Why would taking the captaincy off one scummy thug (Terry) and giving it to another (Gerrard) be of any benefit? Exactly the same problems will occur.

I remember when Gerrard soloed Hungary after England went behind and he scored twice in 5 minutes. Ive never seen a player take the game by the scruff of the neck like he that and lift the players around him so much. That is why Gerrard should be captain.
